-------oOo------- CRITICISM: NEW YORK SHOW: DECEMBER 5TH, 1904: .......... BIOGRAPH:- 19 mins. An Imported film. "Shooting the Rapids", Good photographically, "An Inter rupted Honeymoon, Good "Electricity Vs Steam", Excellent novel, "The Adventure of Sandy McGregor", Good, containing several laughs; rather a novel English film. THE ZARNES:-KR-3: Full stage, 12 M. 3-shows: Man and woman flying ring experts. Splendid appearance and as good as any act of this description that every played here. MAY EVANS: HR-3:- Full stage, 12 M. 3-shows: This young woman has greatly improved. She introduces several imitations, and with her whistling this afternoon, went very good. CHADWICK TRIO: ER-3: Full stage, 20 M. 3-shows: Man, woman and little girl in a Yankee comedy sketch, entitled "Hank Hoover,s Holiday". The woman's work is only fair, while the man is good. The child's dancing is excellent, she being the strong hold. There is numerous laughs scattered throughout, and it went good, and I would consider it at the price an excellent act for the 3-a-day section. CARTER & BLUFORD: KR-3:- Drop in 1: 3 shows, 16 M. Colored man and woman in a singing character change act. Good voices, splendid appearance. They use two drops in one for the character change work. Strongly applauded at their finish, one of the hits of the bill. THREE MADCAPS: GRR-3:-Full stage, 3-shows, 9 M. Three young women, in a novelty acrobatic dancing number. Good hard workers. An excellent act for the 3-a-day section. KIMBALL & DONOVAN: ER-3:-Drop in 1: 3-shows: 14 M. Two young men; banjoists. Gold selections. Went strong. FREDERICK HALLEN & MOLLIE FULLER:- MRR-20, 2 shows, 20 M. Full stage. Three men and one woman in a one-act comedy entitled "The Election Bets". An excellent company. One continual laugh from start to finish. WARNER & GARDNER: GNR-2:- Drop in one, 2 shows, 21 mins. Two men, singing and talking, billed as "The Singer and the Comedian". Gardner does the straight work, while Warner works in blackface. Gardner makes an excellent appearance, has a good delivery and a grand voice, and gives the act a tone of refinement. While Warner impersonates the negro character in great shape, and is an funny as any peduliar delivery of Warner makes the act go with a howl. They finish with Warner made up as a Wench, which is a scream. The act is one of the laughing hits of the show. MABEL McKINLEY: AYH-2: Full stage, 2-shows, 14 M. First time here. Was strongly applauded when she came on. Her voice is only fair, although they appreciated every song, more through sympathy, I imagine. Her name is the only drawing power. MURPHY & NICHOLS: YHR-2:- Open in one, close full stage, 2 shows, 26 M. W.H.Murphy and Blanche Nichols, assisted by a man and woman, in a comedy, entitled "From Zaza to Uncle Tom". The act is a burlesque rehearsal, a scream from start to finish, twenty-six minutes of good continuous laughter. The best comedy we have ever had.
