( M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Dec. 12, 1904. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1 -- Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. Jansen-Herr company, 3 shows, 17 min. full stage -- Magicians and illusionists. Man and woman, assisted by a stage hand, for whom they carry costume. From a 3-per-day viewpoint, it is a good act, though the young man attempts some ambitious feats that may develop, which at the present time lack finish. It does not finish in 1. Cut a knock at the New York Journal, which he said was passed in New York. We cannot afford to antagonize any newspaper. Chadwick trio, 3 shows, 19 min. open full stage, close in 1 -- This team was made up of a man, , working as a "rube" and woman, working straight, and the little girl, who does some character work and dances fairly well. To my mind, it is a good deal of a "shine" act, as none of them are good entertainers, even from a 3-per-day standpoint. If the juvenile was not in it, the older people would not be considered at all, and there is too much of that sort of thing in vaudeville now. Cut out a nasty invitation from the man to the woman to "see him wipe his feet after washing them at home", and also a reference in a letter from his son coupling Divine Providence with the name of a student, both of which he claimed were passed in New York. William Adair and Hattie Dahn, 3 shows, 12 min. full stage -- Tight wire performers, giving a pretty and interesting exhibition, and might easily go further down on the bill. Harry Dudley and Alice Cheslyn, 3 shows, 13 min. in 1 -- In vocal selections, solos and duets, and a couple of stories by the woman. Fair 3-show value. No dancing, as we were led to expect. Moulier Sisters, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage -- Rather good looking and shapely girls, who give a clever acrobatic exhibition on triple horizontal bars. The older girl is getting too heavy to give a good exhibition, but the younger is quite agile. They got a lot of applause in this not very good place on the bill. Matthews and Ashley, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1 -- Two Hebrew singers, one working straight and the other in character makeup. They did fairly well, the comedian carrying the act with his parodies on popular ballads. Good turn for the early 2-show section. description from me. Went well in spots but could not be considered to have scored a hit. and that is not nearly past. The show may make good with the public, but I -----o-----
