..........oOo.......... CRITICISM:NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK DECEMBER 19TH, 1904: ......................... WILBUR AMOS: AR-3:- Full stage, close in one. Comedy juggler. This young man has omitted the strongest part of his act, the apple throwing, which always went well here. His strongest trick is spinning the six plates. the act in its present shape is only fair. LUIGI DELL'ORO: GHR-2: Drapery in one, 20 minutes. Virtuoso Musicale. This act is rather novel; he plays two accordions with his hands and feet, while sitting on a high pedestal. They applauded his selections, although he held the stage entirely too long. Will cut his act down to 12 minutes. SUGIMOTO JAPS: YRR-2: Palace 4, 25 minutes. Two men and three boys in an excellent balancing and acrobatic act. As good as any we have ever played. They work a midget, nine years of age (under the average) who is a wonder at balancing and funny as an acrobat. He is the support of the act. MURPHY & FRANCIS: KR-3: Street in one, 16 minutes. Colored man and woman, in singing and dancing act. Always goes strong here. MAXWELL & SIMPSON: YRR-2: Drop in one, 20 minutes. Two men, illustrated songs. Maxwell made a big hit with the gallery; that was the only part of the house that cared for this faded attraction. Maxwell has no voice and cannot sing. He gave us all new songs except one. He still features Chief Croker's picture, which was strongly applauded. LAVENDER & TOMSON: GHR-2: C.D. in 3, 20 minutes. Man and woman presenting the comedy, "A Touchdown". The act is the same as when seen here last. The laughs are in spots. They did not go as well as when last here. WALTER C. KELLY: GYH-2: Drop in one, 16 minutes. Dialect comedian. First time here in years. As good as any we have ever had. Some of his jokes are old, but he tells them in a peculiar manner, which makes them go. His impersonation of the Southern Judge, giving the different characters and each a different dialect, went with a scream. A big hit. BROTHERS BOSTON: GNH-2: Garden 4, 7 minutes. Two men in a hand-to-hand balancing act. Clean workers, good appearance; strongly applauded. JENNIE YEAMANS: GRR-2:- Drop in one. 14 minutes. Comedienne. Miss Yeamans has nothing new in monologue or songs; doing the same act line for line. Will change her position tonight, which may help her a little. CHAS. F. SEMON: GHR-2: C.D.D.2, 20 minutes. Musical comedian, late of Falke and Semon. Has a lot of good material, and went fully as strong as when he was with his partner. EMMETT DeVOY & CO: YHR-2: C.D. 3, 26 minutes. Two men and a woman, presenting the comedy "The Saintly Mr Billings". Contains many laughs, full of good comedy; closes with a scream. EMPIRE CITY QUARTETTE: YNH-2: Street in one, 19 minutes. These boys received a rousing hand when they appeared. Every song strongly applauded- the show 12 minutes late- nobody moved until their finish. A big hit.
