TEMPLE THREATER, DETROIT, MICH. Jan. 9, 1905. Criticism of J. M. Finn. FOUR PIANOS. Three men and a woman presenting a rough comedy act entitled "In Africa." They carry their own drop and in a way appeal to that class of vaudeville patrons who delight in rough fun. 15 min. F. S. -- LOUIS GUYMAN This boy did very well considering that it was his first public appearance. He sings quite well and has a little dance. 9 min in one. -- MISSES DELMORE These old-timers have a vocal and instrumental act that has been presented by them in both vaudeville and burlesque for lo these many years. They seem to be going here better this time than ever before. They dress their act very well and on the whole are good 2o-1 -- MONROE, MACK AND LAWRENCE Two men and a woman presenting a rough comedy act entitled "The Two Senators." There is a great deal of noise in the act and while it may appeal strongly to the rafters it would not please fashionable society. All right for three a day. 14 min. F. S. -- CLIFF GORDON "The German Politician" went very strongly with our audiences. He has a very good Dutch-Holland delivery and he has a lot of good stuff that is new to our patrons. He sizes up well. 16 in one. -- MOULIER SISTERS These young women were the hit of the show. They do a triple horizontal bar act that compares favorably with the best male experts in this line. Their giant whirl and their double somersaults from the bars provoked much applause. These girls are just as wonderful in their line as are the Casch Sisters in theirs. 8 min. F. S. -- ROSS, FENTON & CO Charles Ross, Mabel Fenton and Annie Turner presented a burlesque on "Cleopatra" which did not come up to expectations. The old burlesque of Jules and Ella Carrison appealed more strongly to our audiences. The act in very much over paid, and the fact that Ross and Fenton were members of the Weber & Field company did not add $5. to the box office receipts. 17 min. F. S. KELLEY AND VIOLETTE Although this "team" presented the same songs as on their former appearance here they went very strong and appear to be prime favorites with our audiences. Kelley is certainly one of the best singers on the vaudeville stage and Violette is without question the best dressed woman in the business. 11 in one. -- HERBERTS DOGS This is a very good dog act, and will go exceptionally strong with the women and children of the matinees. He has some good jumping greyhounds that excite comment notwithstanding it is a very old act. -- This is not what a regular patron of this theater would call a strong bill. The act of the Moulier Sisters is the only very strong act and the only one that would have a tendency to draw. --------------
