84 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Feb. 13, 1905. Stirk and Lou Dan, 3 shows, 9 min full stage -- Two men in a combination bicycle, and barrel jumping and tumbling specialty. An excellent act; best opener we have had for some time; good for an early spot in the 2-show section. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1 -- Usual selection of interesting and home and foreign views. Acker and Gilday, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- Two young men, one working straight and the other in a clean eccentric makeup. They have a fair line of comedy talk and their singing is not bad. Can be classed as good 3-per-day act. Adelina Roattino and Clara Stevens, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage -- This is a pleasing but not great act. In the matter of stage setting it has the element of novelty, which serves to carry it stronger than its merits otherwise would deserve. Miss Roattino is not so good a singer as formerly; flats considerably. Miss Stevens is a graceful and pleasing dancer. The turn really deserves a better place than I can give it though it is not up to our two-show standard. Dick Lynch, 3 shows, 17 min. in 1 -- This man properly belongs in the 3-show section, although he has a good line of burlesque songs and stories, and is an excellent wooden shoe dancer. He lacks "personality", however, and does not reach his audience as he should. All right in the spot where I have him this week. Lutz Brothers, 3 shows, 17 min. full stage -- Two men, one of whom has no arms, but does everything with his feet. They play on musical instruments in a rather inharmonious manner, and the act is really carried by the clever feats performed by the man without arms. His marksmanship being truly marvellous. Act scored a hit. Miles-Stavordale Quintet, 2 shows, 13 min. in 1 -- Four men playing on specially made banjos, the fifth on a harp, the songs produced claimed to be like the human voice, which, in fact, they are. It is the best act of the kind we play, and made a much bigger hit on this occasion than at any time during their previous engagement, as they were recalled again and again. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew, 2 shows, 23 min. full stage - Presenting for the second time here their dramatic playlet, "The Yellow Dragon", which we gave a splendid special stage setting of a Chinese pattern. The audience followed the action of the piece with intense interest and at the close they received three curtain calls. 5. His Wrongs Avenged. Interesting, to the galleries, particularly. 6. Misplaced Signs. Amusing.
