130 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, MARCH 27TH'05. H. A. DANIELS. HUGHES & HAZLETON-NR-3-Two men, travesty act, introducing scenes from "Damon & Pythias" and "Quo Vadis." Thirteen minutes of bad acting--the audience seemed to think. 13 mins. in one. LORRAINE & GANDY-NH-3-Man and woman, billed as the "man with the funny legs and the woman with the big voice." The voice is "big" all right, and it's somewhat shine. Woman is neatly gowned and not a bad looker. They talk a little and the man does some acrobatic work. All right for the price in this spot. Had to cut some "jokes." 12 mins. in one. MILDRED HANSON-SR-3-Vocalist. Said she had a cold to-day, and was not in shape to work. Guess she was right. Will get by all right when in condition. Went pretty well. 9 mins. in one. COUTURE & GILLETTE-GRR-3-Two men, well known comedy acrobatic act. Plays the circuit frequently. A very good three show act. 8 mins. Garden in 3. PAT ROONEY & MARION BENT-YRR-2-, Doing their eccentric dancing act, with singing and jokes. Rooney always gives a good, lively act, and gets the applause. Good. 16 mins. C.D.F. in 2-1/2. DIXON & ANGER-GYN-2-Two men, talking and singing act, "The Baron and His Friend." A bully good act. The best Dutch comedian we have had here in many months. Mostly new material. Very good. 16 mins. in one. BERT COOTE & CO.-YHR-2-Sketch, entitled "A Lamb in Wall Street." Two men and a woman. Coote's comedy is very original and very good. Continuous laughs all the time he holds the stage. Sketch runs a little serious now and then, but the comedy breaks it. Very good act. 22 mins. C.D.F. in 3. GREAT SCOTT-GRR-2-The Ladder King. Plays musical instruments and juggles atop the "jiggling" ladder. A good novelty act for the price for the early two-show section. 10 mins. in 2. DIDA-SRR-2-Second and last week of this great illusion. It takes almost one week for an act of this kind to get thoroughly talked about. Bedini & Arthur's burlesque makes the act doubly valuable from a comedy standpoint. 9 mins. C.D.F. in 4. MELVILLE & STETSON-YRR-2-Janet Melville & Evie Stetson doing the same work they have always done. They continue to spend a great deal of cash on their gowns. This tends to please the women, and throw a scare into the men, who are married. Good act. 18 mins. in one. RICHARD GOLDEN & CO.-Presenting "Old Jed Prouty in Boston." Six people in the act. The sketch is really the third act of "Old Jed Prouty," as presented on the road by his company years ago. I remember of seeing it 15 years ago. Sketch is mostly comedy, with a little pathos--just enough to please the women, and at the same time not get on the nerves of the men. A very good act. 23 mins. C.D.F. in 3. JOHN BIRCH-GRR-2-"The Mosquito's Revenge." A monologue, the man taking the several characters in a bloody melodrama, using nothing but hats for his changes. Received a good hand at the close. did not go as strong as we thought. 14 mins. in one. BEDINI & ARTHUR-YYH-2-Held for a second week in order to present another burlesque on Dida, the one last week proving the laughing hit JOE MORRIS-GRR-2-The Hebrew with the pipes. Tells some stories and sings some parodies. Didn't go very well. Cut "Shovel coal with the devil." 13 mins. in one.
