218 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston, show, Week of July 24, 1905 Fadettes, 2 shows, 60 min. full stage--With an entirely new program of selections and a good opening audience, the orchestra went as strong as at any time during their present engagement. Harry Hedrix and Ada Prescott, 3 shows, 11 in. in 1-- Quite a neatly dressed couple in son and dance. Their ocalism does not amount to much, but the dancing of Hedrix more than makes up for this. Secured good applause for him. Excellent act for the 3-a-day division. Stinson and Merton, 2 shows, 20 min. open in 3, close in 1- Well-known on the circuit; had practically the same line of material as on their last appearance here and scored continuous laughter all through, although their close in 1 fell rather flat at the finish. Good act for this house. Paul Valadon, 2 shows, 25 min. open in 3, close in 1-- Well-known magician who has been commented upon in the other houses. Got a good advance reception on his appearance; was followed with deep interest this afternoon, and all of his tricks were generously applauded. Chas. Barry and Hulda Halvers, 2 shows, 18 min. in 3-- In eccentric comedy talking, singing and dancing specialties. Barry made up as a tramp and Miss Hulvers was becomingly costumed. Act was laughed at all through. Barry's impersonation of Bert Stone in the scarecrow song from "The Wizard of Oz" is an exceptionally clever piece of work and was stongly applauded. Elmer Tenley, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--Well-known monologue comedian; continuously laughed at all, through. Obliged to make several cuts from his material, but he is without doubt one of the brightest entertainers we play. Could not have filled this spot better if he had been made for it. Williams and Walker Glee Club, 2 shows, 16 min. open full stage, close in 1--Tremendous hit. In fact, I might say the biggest hit of the summer. If possible, I will try to hold the over another week. LeRoy and La Vanion, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage--Well-known comedy horizontal bar performers. Their work is both cleer and laughable and it makes a good act to close the show. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of pictures: 1. A Climb to the Clouds. Interesting picture to automobolists. 2. Casey and His Neighbor's Gout. Good comedy picture 3. Canoeing on the Charles. Very pretty and interesting picture , locally. 4. Romance of the Rail. Fair picture 5. Serpentine Dance. Quite a pretty colored film 6. Street Car Chivalry. Good comedy and interesting picture Dalton Brothers, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Trio of clever acrobats and balancers. They had several feats new to this house and received more applause for the position than any other act this summer. It is an excellent act for the early 3-show division. Carolyn Young, 3 shows, 9 min. in l--Quite a clever whistling soloist, who does fairly well for the early 3-show section for a change but willnever be anything wonderful. James Morton and Mamie Diamond, 3 shows, 13 min. in 2-- In the farcical sketch, "My Brother's Reception"; the only merit of the piece being the eccentric dancing by Morton. Fair act for a very early spot in the 3-show section here. Al H. Burton, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Monologue and singing comedian of quite a pleasing personality . He is a clever young man and would make good in the 3- show division any time in this house. Comment:- The show is a corker and was heartily appreciate this afternoon. The Walker and Williams Glee Club made a tremendous hit; Valadon was followed with deep interest and Elmer Tenley was a scream all through. Owing to cloudy weather we had a very good audience this afternoon, who will no doubt spread the good news along and help us in the business for the balance of the week.
