[page number] 230 PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUG. 21 1905. H. T. JORDAN. The GIBSONS-3-Young man and woman in a little playlet, entitled, "The Burglar's Kit." While these young people are fairly clever they both have a bad tendency to overact, which they may overcome in time. The play itself is a sort of a miniature "Raffles" and is not at all bad, although it is rather too serious for vaudeville, and the comedy end should be worked up more. Seemed to hold our audience this afternoon and received a fair hand at the finish. 20 mins. Green F. in 3. GEORGIE GALVIN-3-Soprano singer in operatic selections. Has a pretty good voice, but she would do better if she did not attempt such high class work. All right for the money in an early place on the bill. 10 mins. Olio in 1. ALPHA TRIO-3-Hoop jugglers. Two men and a woman, one of the men doing comedy as a rube kid. These people work well, do some neat stunts, and in fact next to Everhardt, are the best hoop rollers we have had in the house. Comedy introduced is all right. Frequent applause during the act, and a strong hand at the finish. Mighty good act. 12 mins. Blue Car. in 3. JACK & BERTHA RICH-3-Singing and dancing. Boy and girl who originally were Philadelphians. The singing and talk is rather weak, but the wooden shoe dancing is very good indeed, and aroused lots of applause. Good act. 12 mins. Drap. in 1. SID BAXTER-3-Aerial cyclist. This man is a good performer on the slack wire, his stunts on the bycycle [sic] being new and cleverly done. Went very well this afternoon. Good act. 11 mins. Rd. Lans. in 4. Set cottage BOOTBLACK QUARTETTE-3-The straight singing is pretty good, but their comedy is only fair. From a three a day standpoint may be considered a very good act at the price. Pleased to-day and received liberal applause for each number. 12 mins. St. in 1. 3 WESTON SISTERS-2-Instrumentalists and vocalists. These young ladies are young, attractive, modestly dressed, and are good musicians. The act is fully as good as when Sam Weston worked with the girls. Rather quiet and should not be put on too late. Made a favorable impression on to-day's audience. Good act. 17 mins. D. D. Red in 3.
