Cleveland Show, Week of May 14th, '06 (H.A. Daniels.) FLOOD BROTHERS -- Knockabout comedy acrobats. The two brothers of the original team assisted by a third man. They have a lot of new stuff, and the set has greatly improved. I would like to have them again next season. Gar. 4. 10 mins JOSIE & WILLIS BARROWS --Boy and Girl. Singing and dancing specialties. The singing is very bad. The boy's dancing and the girl's toe-dancing carry the set. The boy appears to have grown "fresh" at least that is the way he appears from the audience. Act is just fair for the house. Drop in one. 7 min. JACOB'S PERFORMING DOGS -- Three Fox terriers. This man's work is similar to that of Joe Reichen's dogs, with the difference that this man does some of the wok himself, and does not depend entirely on the dogs. It is all equilibristic work, and is very good. The set went well, and received the applause it deserved. F.S. 9 mins. KINETOGRAPH -- The pictures were put in here to kill a four minute wait between Jacob's dogs and Tom Hearn. Tom Hearn works in C.D.F. in three, with a trick bed, trick washstand, special carpet, etc. While the dogs work in a garden. I did not know this until to late to change the show. TOM HEARN --This man gave us something entirely new for Cleveland. His pantomime work is excellent, and his comedy original. The entire set was rell received by a sold audience C.D.R. in xxx 3. 13 min. CHARLOTTE GUYER GEORGE -- Contralto. Her entrance was bad, and her first selection fell flat. On her second number, "loves old sweet song" and her third number "My old Kentucky Home" she received some applause. Drop in one 12 min CLAYTON WHITE & MARIE STUART -- In "Paris." This set is well known in all the Keith houses. About the time the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and the Quakers and Wm. Penn settled in Philadelphia, the Shakers discovered the Western Reserve, which is now Cleveland. The three sects have similar views and none of them agree that "Paris" is suitable for a Keith house. There were letters of complaint received when the set was presented here last year, and I know similar letters that were received in Philadelphia. However, the set today was a scream; I have never seen it go better. Clayton White, Marie Stuart and Miss D'Arey were all at their best, and they handled that cold frosty audience in a manner that made the Monday afternoon cranks sit-up and take notice. The applause at the close of the set was hearty and sincere. C.D.F. in 3. 33 min. WALTER C. KELLY -- Dialect comedian. This man's actis well known. He seems to improve constantly, and his work scored and emphatic hit. 15 min. Drop in one. SUNNY SOUTH -- I have these people billed as fifteen colored comedians, singers and dancers. In the first place, there are not fifteen, but ten, to continue in error, they are not comedians, and t hey can't sing. Their dancing was excellent, in fact it is the whole act. Their opening was weak, and scores in the audience left the theatre. Their rapid-fire dancing at the finish was the only thing that carries the set. It is not the Sunny South of a year ago by any means. Special set. F.S. 18 min
