21 CRITICISM NEW YORK SCHEDULE--May 21st, 1906. VIOLA & ENGEL: Acrobats and Barrel Jumpers. Secured some few laughs and got some applause for their work. An excellent opening act. 9 min. -full stage- 3 shows FITZGERALD & TRAINOR: Singing, Dancing, and Piano-playing. Fairly good singers, splendid dancers and secured some applause for the piano work. Mighty valuable three-show act, on account of opening and closing in one. 15 min TANNER & GILBERT: Comedy sketch. Some of the dialogue is funny and secured quite a number of laughs. Man got quite a good hand for his acrobatic dancing. Act on the whole in alright for an early place on the bill. 16 min. -full stage-close in one-3 shows CORNALLA & EDDIE: Comedy Jugglers and Acrobats. This act is greatly improved since their last appearance. One works straight and the other as a clown. The act is on the order of Rice & [Prevest?]. Clown is quite funny, has some great falls and secured many good laughs. The juggling work is on the style of Bedini & Arthur; in fact, all the business of breaking plates, etc., belongs to that act. They were the applause hit up to this time. Will have them close the show to-night. 15 min. - full st LILLIAN ASHLEY: This girl was pretty punk this afternoon. Claims to have a cold. Her stories just about passed. Will move her up on the bill. 13 min. in one-- 3 shows W.C. FIELDS: Comic Juggler. This man was not a great big hit with the afternoon audience. Secured some few laughs in spots for his work and closed only fair. I think he is overpaid. 17 min. -full stage- 2
