37 Cleveland Show, Week of June 11th, '06 [1906] (H.A. Daniels.) BRAZIL & BRAZIL---Their baggage did not arrive. It is doubtful if it will be here for the night show. They informed me this morning, that their act was such that the could not, would not, and never did close in one. As it takes five minutes to set Clark's Dogs, I have put in a local act to fill in the wait. CLARK'S EDUCATED DOGS AND PONIES---This man has some very clever dogs and some pretty ponies. He lacks personality, and looks like thirty cents in a dress suit. The dogs are well trained. His appearance and awkwardness prevent the act from being very good. As it is, it is good for this spot and that is about all. 11 min. F.S. BERTIE FOWLER---Her work is too well known for comment. She gives her usual "kid" imitations, with impersonations of James Thornton, and James Richmond Glenroy. Received a little applause for her work. Drop in one. 14 min. JOHN AND BERTHA GLEASON & FRED HOULIHAN---Singing, dancing and piano playing. This act has improved. There is more life in the act than when I last saw it, and Houlihan has improved in his work. They received four curtain calls. Open C.D.F. in 3. Closed in one. 17 min. STANLEY & WILSON---Man and woman in a musical comedy act entitled, "Der Kappelmeister." This served to introduce the woman's singing and the man's imitation of a clarionet [clarinet?] The act started off rather slowly, but gradually improved, and closed in one to very strong applause. Good act. C.D.F. in 3. Close in one. 20 min. JULIE RING & CO---Sketch "A Quiet Life." Miss Ring (Mrs. Al Sutherland) is assisted by Mr. Sargeant. The sketch is the same that was produced here the closing week of last season by Katheryn Osterman. It is quite a good comedy sketch, and was received favorably by the afternoon audience. Good act. C.D.F. in 3. 16 min. DOHERTY SISTERS---These girls have a good lively singing and dancing act. Their work in spots is a little rough for a Keith House, but the life and cleverness they put in the act overcome this fault. They entertain with singing, dancing and a few impersonations. Good act, but hardly strong enough for this position. Drop in one. 16 min. BEDINI & ARTHUR---Their act is the same they have been presenting the last two seasons. Bedini has lost some of his cleverness, and Arthur improves with age. The act was a scream today. Very good. F. S. Special act cottage. 15 min. KINETOGRAPH---Scenes in India. Very good. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CUTS--- BERTIE FOWLER---In Imitation of James Richmond Glenroy "Mother caught Father with two girls in swimming "If you live on the level you go to the devil." DOHERTY SISTERS---Reference to Anna Held where statement is made "You look like -----."
