42 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of June 18, 1906 Fadettes, 2 shows, 55 min. full stage--Entire new program of selections. Our holiday crowd did not seem to appreciate them as they did the rest of the show, which was only to be expected. Al Carleton, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--Eccentric monologue comedian. This man has a much better lot of material than when he was last here and went very well in this spot today. I do not think he has got the exact "key" yet, however, and I believe with the right sort of material, this man would always go big. He got a lot of laughs and a big hand at the close. Hugh Stanton and Florence Modena, 2 shows, 23 min. in 3--In the satirical sketch, "For Reform". This sketch, although seen here several times, scored quite a laughing hit from beginning to end. World Comedy Four, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Three men working straight, and one eccentric, harmony singers and gunmakers. This is another act that has picked up since last year, nut there is still room for improvement. Their work is rough, but it was on the order that would appeal to a holiday audience, and as a consequence, went big. it is not strong enough by any means for the last spot in one in this house. Horace Goldin, 2 shows, 17 min. full stage--This man has aroused lots of talk about town, and the the big audience we had today I look for him to draw more during the remainder of the week. His act needs no comment from me whatever. Two weeks booking for an act of this sort helps considerably. .R. F. Outcault, 2 shows, 18 min. in 2--"Buster Brown" cartoonist. This man got quite a big advance reception showing that with even the meager means we had at hand that he had drawn many people into this theatre today. His talk is decidedly "shaky"; it does not run with the smoothness it should, in fact, it is quite amateurish. He has a "nice" personality and got lots of laughs and big applause at the close. I think we will do business on the strength of his name. Grace Cameron, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--This young lady is quite a favorite here, and got a big advance reception. For this city, I think she is one of the cleverest comediennes we have. Today she repeated her big success of about fifteen months age. Her Spanish song at the start was a little slow, but her child imitations and her "Dolly Dimples" song were excellent. Wills and Hassan, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage--Acrobats and balancers. This sort of work always goes well here and today was no exception. I do not believe it is a good act to close the show ordinarily, but it is the best we have. Goldin for a second week might do for today with the immense audience, but when we get into the week with our regular patrons, they would get up and walk out.
