43 PITTSBURG, PA. CRITICISMS JUNE 18th. 1906. NIBLO & RILEY-"The Wood Dealer and the Kid". shows, 14 minutes open in garden close in one. Introducing singing, talking and eccentric dancing. This can be classed as a fair act among the three a day. CLARKS DOGS AND PONIES-15 minutes, garden. 3 shows. I would not care to play this act later than 8:00 o'clock. The man does not look well in a dress suit and works very slow. I think the fault of the act lies entirely with Mr. Clark as his dogs seem really clever. BROWN & DELORES-3 shows. Cartoon singing act. 13 minutes in one. I consider this a very good act among the three a day SMIRL & KESSNER Acrobatic comedy. 18 minutes, interior, closing in one 7 minutes. I consider this a very good act, especially the work of Mr. Smith. They are going well with us. STANLEY & WILSON-18 minutes, interior, closing in one 2 minutes in "Der Kepelmeister". This is the first time we have played Stanley & Wilson and I consider it a very good act. The singing of Miss Wilson and the imitation of clarinet playing by Mr. Stanley is exceptionally strong. The act is going very big with us. GLEESON & HOULIHAN-Interior, 16 min., closing in one about 3 min. This act is too well known to need any extended criticisms. They are doing about the same as usual, which is very pleasing DIAMOND & [SMITH?]- Illustrated songs with slides and moving pictures. The act is going very big which is due to the moving picture feature. The singing of Mr. Diamond is not even fair. However, it is a cheap act at the figure. CLAUDE GILLINGWATER & CO. in "A Strenuous Proposal". 32 min. Interior. This act is going very well, the work of Mr. Gillingwater and Miss Carlyn Strelitz being far above the average. With a sketch not quite so lengthy I feel sure they would be much better. However, they are going very good with us. BEN WELCH-16 min. Street in one. Going great-I think better than Joe. EIGHT ALLISONS-14 minutes, garden. Best act of the kind we have ever played. BRAZIL & BRAZIL-"The Eccentric Kid". 3 shows, 10 minutes, wood. A fair act in the three a day section. BABY OWEN & CO.3 shows. 12 minutes. Singing and talking act. While Baby Owen is not very strong, I feel sure he could get away among the three a day but with the handicap of the company, his mother, I feel sure that I would not want to play the act's repeat. JOHN P. HARRIS.
