(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of June 25, 1906 Fadettes, 2 shows, 50 min. full stage. Usual change of selections, most of which were liberally applauded. Perhaps the best liked was the overture, "Raymond". Fields and Wolley, 2 shows, 19 min. in 1--German comedians, singers and dancers. These chaps started off a little slow until they brought out their airship when they produced original lines of material which was very bright and got the audience in good humor. The act is a good one if not down too far. Cut: "If you can't get the liver you get kidney trouble". Robert Hilliard, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage--Assisted by an excellent company, in the intense dramatic play, "As a Man Sows". Mr. Hilliard was given a big reception on his entrance and was followed with deepest interest throughout. There is no question but what it is the strongest vehicle Mr. Hilliard has ever given in this city, and I believe it is also the best dramatic sketch we have ever had here. Got five enthusiastic curtain calls at the close. Young American Quintet, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Four boys, and a young woman, in songs and dances. Their concerted singing is quite good, but their dancing is their stronghold. From the 3-a-day standpoint this is an excellent act. It is one of the acts that can go in the early 2-show section and make good. Went very well in this spot today. James F. Kelly and Annie O'Brien, 2 shows, 18 min. open in 3, close in 1--In their farcical sketch, "A Ginger Snap". These people are big favorites here, and the fact that the sketch has been seen here several times before did not seem to detract from its interest today. Aroused lots of laughs throughout and their "spieling" at the finish carried them off to big applause. The Seldons, 2 shows, 9 min. full stage--I can only repeat my former criticism; most artistic exhibition seen here without question. All their subjects were strongly applauded and they went off to a big hand. but the material could hardly be found. Their close in 1 in dancing, is the only meritorious part of the act. LaDent, 3 shows, 13 min. in 2--Juggler of hats balls and small articles in general. This chap is really quite clever doing a very good juggling act for the 3-a-day division. In this awfully poor spot on the bill, he got lots of applause. Wm. Alexis and Dalia Schall, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--In their singing, dancing and contortion act. Well-known on the circuit. From the 3-a-day standpoint and from the fact that they work in 1, this is an excellent act. Comment:- The show as a whole, is a good one. Probably the only fault in the 2-show section to be found is with Caron and Herbert. They should not have followed Caron and Farnum. I have no doubt that Hilliard drew a good many patrons today, for we had a good audience for Monday.
