----(2)---- JONES & HITE: Presenting an original musical comedy. Five Hundred Dollars is a big lot of money to pay for this act. I can only say this from the way they went to-day. Act consists of character impersonations with a little plot. Mabel Hite is clever and was admired greatly for her work. Walter Jones held his end up. They just about got by. 20 min.-full stage-closed in one about 2 min BERG'S MERRY GIRLS: The only good thing I can say about this act is that it contains an element of novelty. Girls sing German and their voices sound "funny". The instrumental part of the act is a "giggle". The little acrobatic part which they attempt gets a wee bit of applause. Will move them up further in the bill. 10 min.-full stage. BEN WELCH: This man's material is thoroughly alright. He had them laughing continually for nineteen minutes this afternoon. Negotiated this spot in great shape. VAN AUKEN & ENRIQUE: Horizontal Bar act. 2 men. One straight, the other clown. Van Auken did not go well in this house. He is one of the many performers who demands an applause after he accomplishes a trick. Comedian don't amount to much. He will improve later on. 16 min.-fullst KINETOGRAPH: "Letters that speak" Novel. Fairly good "The Dogs' Smugglers" Showing a wonderful troupe of trained dogs. Quite novel. Very good "The Love-sick Soldier" Fairly good
