63 New York Criticism---July 30th, 1906 WALLACE TRUEMAN: Tramp Juggler. This man presents a pleasing little opening act, consisting of the regulation juggling stunts. Comedy end does not amount to much. Received some little applause for his work. 14 min. in one- 3 shows RICHY W. CRAIG: German Musical Comedian. Opens with a little monologue, which is very mediocre. Gave solos on the saxophone and bells, which were greatly appreciated. Introduced a phonograph, rather novel,- acts as a feeder. Received some few laughs. Act is thoroughly alright for an early place, although paying a little too much money. 18 min. in two-closed in one-- 3 shows BEAN & HAMILTON: Barrel Jumping. Well known. Applauded throughout. Excellent three-show act, although very short. 8 min.-full stage MALVERNE & THOMAS: Society Dancers. Two farily good looking little girls. Nicely costumed. Act consists of Singing, Soft-shoe and toe-dancing. Singing is fairly good, the dancing being their strongest feature. Pleasing three-show act for an early place. 13 min. in one ESTELLE WORDETTE & CO: Presenting the comedy:-"A Honeymoon in the Catskills." Act is well known over the circuit. Miss Wordette is assisted by Jules Kusell. Act contains several new lines with some new business. They scored a great many good strong laughs. It would be safe to say,-the act went as good as any comedy we have had here for some time. 16 min. full stage- 2 shows ANDERSON & GOINES: Colored Entertainers. Excellent three-show act. Secured quite a good lot of laughs with a good strong hand on the dancing. 14 min. in one CAMPBELL & JOHNSON: Comedy Cyclists. They were easily the applause hit of the show up to this time. Have some new business and their trick work got quite a big hand. 17 min.-full stage MARSHALL P. WILDER: Quite a number left when this man's monogram was announced. I am afraid he is going backwards. It is poor policy to make this fellow a headline feature when he plays around New York so much. His material is very light, some parts of it ancient. He received some few giggles in spots. The applause he did get was, I presume, through sympathy. 15 min. in one. "Rival Brothers" Rather dramatic. Good "The Snap-shot Fiend" Fairly good comedy COMMENT: The matinee to-day was fairly good. Weather being so very warm, nothing seemed to go. Campbell & Johnson, Zazelle-Vernon Co and Estelle Wordette & Co. were the laughing hits, the applause hit of the show being Exposition Four. The delegation allowed Marshall P. Wilder to pass with very little notice.
