97 Cleveland Sept. 3, 1906 (2) MONROE & WESLEY-- Two men. An Irish talking and singing act. Two years ago this team might have been considered strong enough to hold this spot. Their work today was such that I am compelled to put "Chalk" Saunders in their place. It is not a bad act, and if put on a bill before 9 o'clock I have no doubt that they would make good. They open well with a rapid fire song and the first impression one gets of the act is excellent. Then they proceed to kill twelve minutes time with the old shell game comedy. The little fellow [seating?] at the table and the big one winning his money. This part of the act is not strong enough to hold down this spot on the bill. They close with a little dancing that is good. It is one of the old time variety acts and at GHR and in a spot not later than 8:45 or 9 I have no doubt that the act would make good. Drop in 1 15 minutes. THE BALZERS-- Two men. European acrobats. These men use a pedestal in conjunction with the bounding net. They present a very good act. We cut their time today because the show was running late, on account of it being a holiday. F.S. 5 minutes. KINETOGRAPH-- Scenes at West Point and Olympic Games at Athens, Greece both are excellent pictures and worth while.
