120 Cleveland Show Week September 24, 1906. (H. A. Daniels) MCCREA & POOLE-- Two men billed as the modern William Tells. An exhibition of sharpshooting. One of these men is as good a marksman as Bordevery or Chevalier De Loris. It is really too good an act to open the show with. F. S. 8 minutes. THE ROYAL HUNGARIAN HUSZAR BAND-- This is an excellent band. I would rather have them than the Fadettes. They carry thirty-five people in all, fifteen more than the Fadettes and they cost less money. Today their leader showed rare good judgment in his selection and had the boys under perfect control. It is a corking good act for this house and I would like to play them at any time. F. S. 22 minutes. JOHN GILBERT-- Monologist. Gilbert had a hard spot on the bill. It took him a few minutes to get them started, but he managed to hold down the spot in fairly good shape. However I don't think he has improved any. Drop in one. 14 minutes. MURRAY & LANE-- Singing sketch titled "A Knight at Home" This act starts off rather slow but it surely makes good before the end. Both Mr. Murray and Miss Lane have excellent voices and they seem to know how to use them to good advantage. A very good act. C. D. F. in three 17 min. NOTE-- It is important for managers to know that the above act does not close in one. I thought they did and consequently had to shift my show at the last minutes. Mr. Murray says that this is a new act they positively do not open or close in one. WILLY ZIMMERMAN-- Impersonator of great composers. He gives Wagner, Creatore, Sousa, Verdi and others. Woks C.D.F. close in one. Mr. Zimmerman received a great deal of applause this afternoon but his act ran altogether too long. He stretches it out until he tires the audience. A very good act. 29 minutes. C.D.F. close in one. JUNIE MCCREE & CO.-- In a slang classic "The Man from Denver" There are two men and two women in the cast. Mr. McCree introduces "The Dope Fiend" during the action of the sketch. The act started off rather poorly and things seemed to drag until Mr. McCree made his entrance. From that moment on things went with a whirl and the comedy was delivered in rapid fire order. The act proved to be an excellent one, better I think for this house than Leslie & Dailey. Open in three drop in one close in three C.D.F/ 25 minutes. CLIFFORD & BURKE-- A black face team on the style of the old Williams & Walker act. One of the men doing Bert Williams eccentric dance. These men received four curtain calls and had to respond to several encores. For this house the act is a knockout. Drop in one 20 minutes. MARZELO & MILLAY-- Comedy bar acrobats both working grotesque This is quite a good act but as the show ran twenty minutes overtime this afternoon a great many people walked out on the act. They do a lot of stuff that Zazell & Bernon used to do in their old bar act and it went quite well. F. S. 10 minutes. KINETOGRAPH-- Butterly catching; A good comedy picture.
