(2) part of the act in which the explanation are made and the questions are written. Fred Walton & Co. On at 3.31, 34 min, full stage. I cannot speak too highly of this act. Seldom, if ever, has a turn made more talk among our patrons than Mr. Walton's offering. He could stay a month in this town. Dave Lewis. On at 4.05, 12 min, in 1. Lewis was a distinct disappointment to me. I had hoped from what I had heard that he had improved greatly since I last saw him, but I find that he is the same Lewis. He is the best example I know, of what it is possible for a man with good business instincts and an abundance of nerve to do on the stage. He would be well paid at one-half his present salary. Boston never cared for him in musical comedy and I don't think it ever will in vaudeville, either. The Phays. On at 4.19, 20 min, full stage. In this part of the act they answer the questions and then give the expose of the Fays. They had our audience in roars at the answers to the questions and then wound up very strongly when they showed how the trick is done. This act is a great and very pleasant surprise to us. We were worried last night about its ability to hold the audience, but were delighted to find that not over a dozen people left the theatre before they had finished at 10.25, something unusual for this house. I think that this set will go well in any city, and will particularly strong wherever the Fays have played. They can do 35 minutes if necessary, which makes it a great act for the money. The Kinetograph. On at 4.39, showing the Harvard-Cambridge Race Film and "How the Office-boy saw the Ball-game", a comic picture, and rather a good one. Is quite interesting, as it shows some capital pictures of real baseball. McGrath & Paige. On 5.02, 10 min, in 1. A very good banjo act for the 3-a-day section. They play well and make a very neat appearance. The girl is bright and pretty. Cuts were as follows: Miss Saville was instructed not to hold her skirts so high in her first song. Dave Lewis, cut squib concerning "Splattered in lady's face" and squib "She told me to go to ---, but I didn't go there". Comment. This show has too many long acts and not enough comedy. However, it seems to make good with the audience.
