134. Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of October 15th, 1906. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill this week while a good one is not the best we have had this season. It contains two or three features that I think will draw money and on the whole will give satisfaction. Kimball & Lewis. Singing and comedy contortion act. Pretty bad affair. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. Three Mitchells. This well-known colored act is played out as far as this town is concerned. They introduced absolutely the same work that they have done time and time again and the voices of the man and woman have completely gone back on them. The new girl is decidedly the best feature of the act. I don't care for it again. 15 min. in 2, 3 shows. Juliette Winston. A very pretty girl with a sweet personality and a fairly good voice who manages to get by in the 3-a-day section. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. The Hurleys. Man and woman in hand balancing, feature of which is the woman doing the "understanding." This is an excellent 3-a-day act; good enough to open the show in the two-a-day houses. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Horace Wright. Character vocalist. This man has a new idea, appearing first as an Italian vendor singing an air from Riggoletto and another ballad, both in very good voice, then changes to an Irishman and sings an Irish ballad very nicely. Held down this spot in good style. Perfectly safe up to 8.30. 15 min. in one, 3 shows. Ramsdell Sisters. Two local girls who do a very nice act of singing and toe dancing. Their costumes are really magnificent. To do the act properly requires full stage, any less would handicap them. Salary and all things considered, I call it a first-class act. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. Elmer Tenley. This was an absolute fall-down. At the opening I thought he was going to make a big hit; gave about 3 min. of new stuff which went very strong indeed, then he gave them his old trolley-car monologue, exactly as he has given it on his two previous engagements, and got some laughs, but walked off with scarcely a hand. 12 min. in 1, 2 shows. Franco Piper. Novelty Banjoist. This man does some excellent work both as an instrumentalist and a juggler, and scored heavily with this afternoon's audience. He requires full stage and gives the best result that way, but could close in one, if necessary. 17 min. 2 shows. Milt Wood. Wooden shoe dancer and one of the best in the business. Made a big hit. 9 min. in 1, 2 shows. Herr Grais & Baboons. Best monkey act we ever had in the house. The animals are excellently trained and go through their work as if it was a pleasure. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Josephine Gassman & Picks. I think Miss Gassman has as good an act, if not the best, she has ever given us. Made a hit. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows. create a great deal of talk and draw money. It would seem to me in the larger cities they could play two weeks. 12 min. full stage, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. As usual.
