[page no.:] 148 NEW YORK CRITICISM--- OCT. 29, 1906 SYLVAN & O'NEILL-- Man and woman. Crazy act. Man does some very good tumbling. The comedy is weak, but the finish is very good. Three show act, 11 minutes full stage. KITTY STEVENS--- In character dances with change of customes [sic]. Each very neatly cone, and all got a fair amount of applause, 10 minutes full stage. SCOTT AND WHALEY--- Two colored men. The comedy part of the act is very good, and went very well. Both good dancers. Good three show act. 17 minutes in one. ADAIR AND DAHN--- Wire Act. Really clever act that made a hit. This is a pretentious act, and much better than many two show wire acts I have seen, and went very well. Three shows, full stage, 11 minutes. CHAS. AND FANNY VAN--- This is another good three show act. Jokes were up-to-date, and their parodies went very well. The man is funny and the woman is a good feeder, but with a disagreeable voice. 15 minutes in one. FRANCO PIPER--- Banjo Specialist. Opens with a grand opera selection which received a big hand. His tricks were splendidly done, especially the playing from two to six banjos. The act is unique and was unquestionably a big hit. He was assisted by a good looking woman. 16 minutes full stage. A very short close in one. HERR GRAIS AND MONKS--- One of the best animal acts I have ever seen, and made a terrific hit. The intelligence of these animals is almost beyond belief, and the applause at the finish of hte act was terrific. Mr. Grais is helped by his wife. 12 minutes full stage. FIELDS & WARD--- The usual talking hit. Parodies also went very well. This act is always popular and received advance applause. 20 minutes in one. MEREDITH SISTERS--- A very clever act. They started with a Dutch song, and special drop in one. The second is a Spanish song with another special drop in one. The third a Chinese with "House" drop in two, with their own set hut, and hanging lanterns. The fourth is an Indian song, with special drop in three. Finish in one "House" drop. The act did not receive the applause it deserved. 12 minutes. The finish in one is very short.
