150 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of November 5, 1906. (Charles Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill this week is a little disappointing, inasmuch as it is lacks some strong comedy other than the headline feature and two or three of the principal acts didn't come up to expectations. It is not a bad show, but a quiet one until the finish. Sutcliffe Sisters. Four rather good-looking girls who are quite young and give a spot of International dance presentation, which is rather amateurish in its general makeup. Not nearly as good as I expected to see. Just about good enough to open the show in a continuous house. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. "Happy" Jack Lyle. Just why he is called "Happy" I don't know, because he is inclined a little bit the other way. He has a fairly good 3-a-day act and manages to get by in an unimportant spot; the songs are much better than his talk. too short to be of much value. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. Lucados. Balancing act. Well known on the circuit. Good 3-a-day act. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Carroll & Baker. These two men drew the first blood of the afternoon, and from a 3-a-day standpoint are especially valuable. Good enough to go in the early 2-a-day section. Got a good many laughs, quite a little applause on their dancing. 13 min. in 1, 3 shows. Saona. This act is too well known to require description; went fairly well with this afternoon's audience, but this is also very short. 10 min. full stage, could work in 3, 3 shows. Scott & Wilson. These men do a little bit better for me than I expected. The "rube" of the team is quite a good comedian, and they have a lot of good acrobatic comedy. Also very short. 8 min. in 1, 3 shows. Royal Musical Five. Four young fellows and a young girl in what is supposed to be a high-grade musical act. Seems remarkable that we should pay these people the same salary we do the Willis Family. The act just escapes being in the 3-a-day class. I should imagine that they are a lot of young fellows that Laskey & Rolfe took up out of some high school orchestra. They are not clever either from the standpoint of good music or vaudeville. The best work is the singing of the girl and the little by-play introduced by the boys while she sings. At about $175. the act could be classed "fairly good." At this price I can't see it at all. 20 min. open full stage, close in 1, 3 shows. 3 Donals. European ring performers. This class of act has been so much over-done that there is very little attractiveness in it. They no doubt please, because they are good, but this style of work is entirely over-done, and I wouldn't care if I never had another ring act for five years. 9 min. full stage, 2 shows. Dave Nowlin. This act has been described in the other houses. He did exceedingly well here today. As has been said in other reports "he has improved wonderfully." Held down this spot without any trouble. 18 min. in 1, 2 shows. than the "Karno" act which I saw in New York. They got laugh upon laugh - while there wasn't a great deal of applause at the finish of the act, the number of laughs that they got throughout demonstrated the value, and because of its novelty I feel it will be worth the money with the number of people it will draw. 25 min. full stage, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. "Grand Prize Auto Race". Location not given, but would judge from picture it was foreign. Good spectacular film. "pals," or "My Friend, the Dummy", good comedy picture.
