162- NOVEMBER 12, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. MUSICAL H[???], Instrumental Specialty:- 15 min. in 2, (cl. in 1) 3 shows. On at 6:28. Appears in German comedy costume, with dialect to match. Plays various instruments such as a musical pipe, bells and saxophone. Intersperses instrumental work with talking, which is fair. Some scattered laughs and a little applause. Closed only fair. CARL HERBERT, Magician:- 15 min. open in 2, close in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:45. Much improved since the last time here. Makes a very good opener. His talk aids his work, which is quite expert. Held the interest, although very few of the tricks were very new. Closed with fair applause. KITTY STEVENS, Character dancer:- 10 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:00. Miss Stevens is not a very clever dancer, but her changes of costume are pretty and each one of them got a fair hand. It is not an act that would hold a better spot on the bill, although it got by acceptably to-day. THE KRAYTONS, Juggling and Hoop-rolling:- 13 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:10. Man and woman, (colored), both working straight. Their work with the Indian Clubs is good, but the man's work with the hoops is really of a very high order, and got the audience strong. Worthy of a 7 to 7:30 place on the bill. Good hand throughout and close was O.K. HENRY & FRANCIS, His First Rehearsal":- 15 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:23. Advance applause. Woman works straight and the man comedy Irishman. got the people going very soon. The act is practically the same as offered before. Held the interest all the way through and closed big, with two curtain calls. One of the best three-a-day acts in Vaudeville. ALLINEI & MONK:- 10 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:38. This is certainly a novelty and should appeal to the children. The monkey does a lot of tricks on the horizontal bars, rings, etc., such as athletes are supposed to do, and does them exceedingly well. There is something quite human about the little beast in his skill and agility. Took the house so strong that each feat got a good hand. The final feat was a corker, and won strong applause. A real simian sensation. TAYLOR HOLMES, Mono. & Imitations:- 18 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:48. Advance applause. Some of his work was new, but the majority of it was a repetition of what he did here before, but it is all good. Closed strong enough to prove him a favorite here. MANSFIELD & WILBUR, "61 Prospect St":- 36 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 8:05. This is well known on the Circuit, but is one of the best sketches in Vaudeville. The motif is the story of twin boys, one a minister and the other a black sheep. Their alternate appearance in a boarding-house, and complications ensure from the bad boy's being mistaken for the minister by the latter's fiancee. The laughs were constant after the audience got on to the situation. The double work of Wilbur is clever and won constant laughs. At the finish there was splendid applause, showing that the artistic effort was fully appreciated. O'MEERS SISTERS, Wire-act:- 10 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:00. Two very prettily dressed young ladies, making a very stunning stage picture. Their work is highly expert and wins constant applause. The finish was strong. One of the best closing acts that we have had for some time. KINETOGRAPH: HONEYMOON TRIP TO NIAGARA FALLS: Interesting and in some parts amusing pictures, making good finish. Film that will be talked about. REBELLIOUS WALKING-STICK: Good comedy series. Altogether the KINETOGRAPH feature is a little above the standard this week. about the success of this engagement and especially valuable in following LANGTRY, by bringing back many new patrons whom LANGTRY brought to the house for the first time. The weather is ideal and the business accordingly. F.E.J.
