193 DECEMBER 10, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C. E. BARNS. REILY & MORGAN,"AN Unexpected Arrival":- 18 min. F.S.(close in 1) On at 6:30, 3 shows. Man working eccentric messenger and other changes, and woman straight. There are some bright lines and some few scattered laughs. Close in 1 was only fair. This is not a good act. ALVIN & KENNY,Comedy Gym:- 11 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:53. Work with rings chairs and on the mat. These people rather surprised us with both the skill of their acrobatic work and their comedy. Quite caught the house. Laughs were frequent. Worthy of a better place in the three-a-day section. Good hand at close. BERTINA & BROCKWAY,Cont. & Danc.& Sing:- 12 min. in 2, close in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:04. Two young girls, makin gpretty appearance in pretty costumes, but whose songs and dancing went only fairly well. Received only mild band. Miss Bertina follows with contortion work in pretty pink tights and uses silver ring as a part of her act, and for the rest no paraphenalia at all. The contortion work is fair, and got only moderate hand. Just about held down this place. Close in 1 with dancing and duo got good hand. ADAMS & MICK,Burl. Magic:- 14 min. in 2. 3 shows. On at 7:16. This act consists in clever magic with comedian exposing the method of doing the tricks. On the whole it was interesting and the humor got quite a good many laughs. O.K. in this place on the bill and passed muster acceptably. Fair hand at the finish. HENNINGS, LEWIS & HENNINGS,"Mixed Drinks":-25 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:35. Unfortunately, this act uses a drunk and disorderly scene as an important adjunct, but it has a good many song and dance novelties to relieve it. Miss Hennings is one of the most expert and graceful dancers we have had here for some time, and a very pretty girl. Hennings, who plays the part of the kid, is also a spelndid comedy dancert. The drunk, played cut out, not being suited to our audiences, seen as the talk about drinking bouts with Flossies and Jennies. Laughing and applause was frequent, and the close was strong, with two curtain calls. With the drunk and disorderly talk cut completely out of this act,(as was done after the first performance),it should make good over the Circuit in this place on the bill. LILLIAN LEROY,Vocaliste:- 14 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:00. Little advance applause. Makes a good presentation and sings acceptably. Sang three songs very charmingly and went off to good applause, making good finish for a straight singing act. DAN BURKE and SCHOOL GIRLS:- 18 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:14. We were inclined to think that this act would be a little bold for us, on account of the bare-foot business and topsy-turvy dancing. We found nothing of the sort however, as it was artistic and dainty from the beginning to the end. The audience likes it very well throughout, giving it two curtain calls at close.
