#3.-Phila. KINETOGRAPH:- AN INEXPERIENCED CHAFFEUR:- Very amusing comedy series from France. Won a good deal of laughter. THE POOR TUTOR:-A supposedly pathetic incident in school-boy life, but not particularly impressive. THE ALPS THROUGH A TELESCOPE:- This is a realistic and at the same time novel way of presenting a travel-series. Two persons are supposed to be in the Valley of Shamonous,, and watching through the telescope. a party of their friends ascending the Alpine peaks, amid great dangers. For an illustrated travel-series, this is one of the most interesting that we have had. GENERAL REMARKS:-By shifting the show, as per above criticism, we have pretty nearly ideal conditions for this house, although it was hard on the stage force to make a quick shift from DAN BURKE and the girls, to the LA MAZE BROS, and thence to the HUNGARIAN BOYS' BAND to F.S., however, these two transpositions were made in less than a minute and a half, so that it worked out O.K. The Band was also placed up the bill at 8:43, instead of down at or near the close, and for that reason made a much stronger impression upon the audience, which was still fresh and enthusiastic. The three-a-day section this week is much stronger than last week. REILY & MORGAN were something of a falldown, whereas ALVIN & KENNY were somewhat of a pleasant surprise. HENNINGS, LEWIS & HENNINGS the Western act, had to be toned down a good deal before an Eastern audience, which would never stand for such a thing as a man's confession to his wife that he had been out drinking with a man friend and two girls, winding up with a fight, in front of a saloon, while waiting for a patrol wagon. The act was long, as it was, and stood the cut very well, and Lewis, who plays the part of the drunk, seemed to be very willing and anxious to please. Shoving forward the LA MAZE BROTHERS from fifth place to ninth, bringing them on more than an hour later, inspired them and they went after the audience for fair, and got them. It is certainly a laugh-getter of the biggest kind. Although this is Christmas shopping week, nevertheless, the promise of business is excellent. -o- F.E.J.
