195 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of December 10, 1906. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill made good thoroughly this afternoon, excepting in the 3-a-day section which is rather weak. 4 Masons. This act will do to open a show in a continuous house, where one wants considerable time. I wouldn't care to recommend it for any other reason. 18 min. in 3, close in 1, 3 shows. Carl Herbert. Magician. This is a fair 3-a-day act; nothing new stage presence not good. 15 min. in 1, 3 shows. Cogan & Bancroft. Comedy roller-skating act. Opening of the act was rather time; they finish up well with comedy roller-skating. All right for an early place in the 3-a-day section. 10 min. Pearl Danforth. This girl did a little bit better than I thought she would. after reading the Boston report. She sings one song which "passes" by and does some "sand" dancing at the finish, which is clean-cut and well executed. She is all right for an early spot in the 3-a-day section. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. Mareena, Nevarro & Mereena. Well-known act they have always given us and which - as usual - made a hit. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Besnah & Miller. These people didn't seem to do quite as well to-day as on previous visits. I had to move them up to this position, from a more important spot on the bill. 16 min. in 1, 2 shows. 4 Harveys. To my mind, the best WIRE act we have ever had. Beautifully presented; and the detail and finish is carried out in excellent style. 12 min. full stage, 2 shows. Mysterious Towards. I was obliged to dispense with a very important part of this act, the "silent" work as it was necessary for them to have full stage all through the act in order to do so. I worked from a report which I had saying they did their entire act in two. This they absolutely deny. I also had a report saying "they close in one" -- and they claim they never did anything of the kind. They are giving me the part of the act which is the same as "The Zanigs" do, and are doing it entirely in one. Very good. 15 min. 2 shows. Harry Gilfoil. This act is too well known to comment; got a big advance reception; made good all through; closed heavily. 20 min. open full stage, do about 3 min. in 1, 2 shows. Arnold Daly & Co. There is no question that this is about the best sketch of its class we ever had in the house. Excellently played, of course, by Mr. Daly and, as is not usual, his support is also very fine. I cannot imagine anyone playing the woman's part any better than Miss Urquhart does. It went very strongly this afternoon and the indications are, it will pull us very much business. 28 min. full stage, set to curtain line, 2 shows. [cut off] "Honeymoon at Niagara". Very fine film and very interesting. Deanah & Miller. NOTE: These people objected to having moved on the bill and closed after the night performance.
