215. Boston Show, Week of Dec. 31, 1906. (Carl D. Lothrop) Alvin & Kenney. On at 1 o'clock, 12 min, full stage, 3 shows. A very good comedy acrobatic act, novel from the fact that they do most of their work on flying rings. The comedy was a bit rough in spots, at the first show, but I instructed them to eliminate some objectionable bits. Above the average of the 3-a-days., will make good in an early spot in any house. Foster & "Wise Mike", On at 1.12, 15 min, in 1; 3 shows. I consider this great value for the money. The dog amuses any kind of an audience and Foster can give any time wanted, from 10 to 30 min. The dog is working very well here this week. The Kratons. On at 1.27, 12 min, full stage; 3 shows, I honestly think that this man does better work with the hoops than Everhart. If he ever plays here again, it is a cinch that he will have a much better spot in the bill, for he can go anywhere and make good. Halley & Meehan. On at 1.39, 14 min, in 1; 3 shows. An act somewhat after the style of Clifford & Burke. They are going very well. I wouldn't hesitate to book this act anywhere. If they had a strong finish, they would be equal to the 2-a-days. The Picquays. On at 1.53, 9 min, full stage; can close in 1, if necessary. A very novel acrobatic act, a veritable find at the money. Of course I realize that when we play them again the price will be much higher, but they are worth it. The finish, in which the man does a sand dance on his hands, is a great hit, and makes people talk. Fields & Wolley. On at 2.02, 17 min, in 1. Are going all right and get many laughs throughout their act. They always manage to dig up a little new stuff. O'Brien Havel and Effie Lawrence. On at 2.19, 22 min, full stage. Boston never seems to tire of this act. I doubt if it ever went better than this time. Taylor Holmes. On at 2.41 15 min, in 1. Holmes is quite a favorite in this house, and always does well, although he will never rank with the great monologue entertainers. Kitamura Japs. On at 2.56, 14 min, full stage, 3 min close in 1. One of the best Japanese troupes I have ever seen. All of their work is great. Watson's Farmyard. On at 3.13, 20 min, full stage. I have never seen a better or more entertaining animal act. I is an emphatic hit.
