223. Columbus, Ohio, Week of Jany. 7th.-----------(W.W. Prosser.) FORTUNE and DAVIS: -- "My Sweetheart" - -a musical skit. Man and woman. -- This is a fairly good opening act. Man has good singing voice which he uses with good results. The talking portion of the act meets with but ordinary success. -- Open C. D. F. Drop in one. 19 minutes. CONN and CONRAD: Two men: "The Quiet Burglars " Makeup comedy tramp and straight. -- Very good eccentric comedy business. -- Finish with work on trapeze and pole. -- Went fairly well but far from decided hit. -- 10 minutes. ELIZABETH MURRAY: Songs and monologue: Made excellent impression. At close received good solid recall. -- All in one -- 10 Minutes. VERMON: Ventriloquist: -- This man made a most favorable impression. His work is all good and he secured many unqualified and emphatic laughs. Full stage. -- Drop in one 20 minutes. THE VILLAGE CHOIR: Quartet: Two men two women. -- All possess good voices: which they use to the best possible advantage. -- The act is simple and pretty and seemed to please all equally. -- Village landscape in two. 14 Minutes. SHEAN and WARREN: Very well known act: " Quo Vadis Upside Down." -- This set may be a hit but not in Columbus. -- The greater part of time is consumed with comedy stuff that fails to make any impression at all. -- In fact the audience didn't seem to know that they were on the bill. Open in two finish full stage. -- 18 minutes. JOSEPHINE GASSMAN: Well known here as elsewhere. -- Made a big hit in fact went as well as anything on the bill. -- All in one. -- 16 minutes. THE UESSEMS: Two boys: head and hand alancers: The best set of it a kind ever seen here. -- Do some very remarkable tricks and are rewarded for their efforts with the unstinted applause of entire house. -- F. S. -- 12 minutes. CMOMENT: This show does not compare favorably with the two which have prededed it. -- Indications are that business will be but fair. -- Strong opposition will no doubt effect us. -- Warfield at Shubert and Prince of India at Southern. -- -- There seems to be too much singing in the bill. Two single woman acts on same make the show appear smaller than it really is.
