240 240. Boston, Show, Week of Jan. 21, 1907. (Carl D. Lothrop) (Tuesday Jan. 22) Reeves & Kenny. On at 1.05, 125 min. in 1; 3 shows. A very ordinary talking and dancing act. Their costuming is against them from the very start, as the days of high hats and cape coats for acts of this kind have gone by. Meeh International Trio. On at 1.2o, 12 minutes, full stage; 3 shows. An acrobatic act that introduces many novelties. It is great value for the money, will make good on any bill in an early spot. Lillian Maynard, On at 1.32, 10 minutes, in 1; 3 shows. Lillian has apparently a decided antipathy for singing in pitch. I do not think I would care to play her again. Ziska & King. On at 1.42, 15 min full stage, 7 min in 1; 22 min in all. A corking good combination of magic and merriment, well worth their money for any house. Cook & Sylvia. On at 2.04, 13 min, in 1. Can dance a whole lot, but can't sing very much. Make a very neat appearance and Cook's dancing will make him a hit anywhere. The woman is a very good looker. Hayes & Johnson. On at 2.17, 18 min full stage, 7 min in 1; 25 min in all. A very good novelty act, indeed. Our audiences of Monday liked it very much, and it is creating quite a lot of talk. It just falls short of being a big hit. If the women were as clever as they think they are, it would have everything in vaudeville faded. Ferry Corwey. On at 2.42, 14 min, full stage. Corwey's eccentric musical act is one of the hits of the bill, in fact he could do several minutes to the satisfaction of his auditors. A particularly pleasing act for children, although this statement must not be taken to mean that it is solely a juvenile act, for it pleases all ages immensely. Lew Hawkins. On at 2.36, 15 min, in 1. Hawkins had a hard row to hoe with yesterday's "show us" audiences, but I heard him this afternoon and he did very well, indeed. At that, he is not the Hawkins of old. White & Stuart. On at 3.11, 32 min, full stage. Playing "Paris". A hit, as usual. However, if they are on the circuit next season and do not have a new act, I should prefer to have them play "Dicky" for me. Maggie Cline. On at 3.43, 12 min, in 1. This seems to be Maggie;s second time on earth. She is looking splendidly and is working with her old-time fire and dash. I was a little afraid that she would fall down, and my only reason for booking her was that I didn't want the opposition to have her. It is therefore very pleasant to state that she can be classed as a hit. "Fan-making in Japan", a fine picture and extremely interesting. "The Country Schoolmaster", a very good comedy picture. Reily & Morgan. On at 5.15, 8 min full stage, 10 min close in 1; 3 shows. After Monday afternoon I buried this act, so as to have it come to the attention of as few people as possible. Never again. The fact that it runs 18 min. is its only redeeming feature. Cut:- Lew Hawkins. Caruso verse. Comment. A show that seems to please. Hawkins was the only fall-down in the 2-a-day section on Monday, but as I have before stated, he came to his own again today, Tuesday. The 3-a-day section is very punk, with the exception of the Meeh Trio. If my memory serves, I do not think that any of the three others will play this house again right away.
