247 247. NEW YORK CRITICISM --- Jan. 21st, 1907. BENNER & EARLE -- Two young girls playing Mandolin, Guitar, Violin and Harp. They are two of the four girls who gave me a trial at this Theatre. A very good opening act, and would also pass to open the two show houses. Quite a good act for the money. 13 minutes in one. CHAS. FREDERICKS -- Magician. The usual three show act of this kind, if anything a trifle better, altho' has not any personality. Fair amount of applause. 15 minutes in two or one. JENNINGS & RENFREW -- Two black-face Comedians. who are billed as singing their own songs. A very good three show act, and are well worth the money I am paying, but would not care about paying any more. Their stuff is comparatively new, and went very well. Songs are better than their patter. 16 minutes in one. POTTER & HARRIS -- Man and woman in Ring act, young and well costumed.Their paraphernalia is also neat, and better than the usual. I can highly recommend the act, as it went very well and is a "find" at the money. 11 minutes, full stage. Three shows. BELLE FAIRCHILD -- Child Impersonator. Her "kid" imitations are very good, and her act would be improved by having more of them and less straight singing. However, her make-up is especially good, and it is a very good act for the money. She "went up" in the words of a new song this afternoon, but it was all right to-night. Good three show act. 12 minutes in one. FRANCELIAS --- Strong man assisted by a very stout woman. Very good act. His tricks and his apparatus are very elaborate and handsome. His work is novel, is cannon and gun shot effects going very well. A really good act for the price. 17 minutes, full stage. Very strong finish. TAYLOR HOLMES -- Well known Monologist. This man went very well. He is refined, neat and all his material got good applause. One serious recitation went exceedingly well. This went act went much better than several higher priced acts I could mention. 17 minutes in one. WYLIE'S DOGS -- Well known on the circuit, and without doubt the best of all. The Special Scenery, dogs' dresses and props added to make this act go splendidly. The boxing dogs were a scream. 14 minutes, full stage. ELEANOR DOREL --- A charming young woman with a beautifully educated voice, and nice personality. She has not quite grasped the true Vaudeville idea yet, but her act while not a big hit was appreciated by the music lovers and I can recommend it for refined audiences. 9 minutes in one. JULIAN ROSE --- An old favorite at this house, and our East Side patrons more than enjoyed his Jewish patter. I imagine that this audience give him more applause than any other. Big hit. 17 minutes in one. DUFFIN REDCAY TROUPE --- Four men in a truly wonderful bar act. It was however a lucky thing that they had a net this afternoon, as one of the men made a nasty slip that made thee audience gasp. All right to-night, and the act went with big applause. 12 minutes, full stage. KINETOGRAPH --- Fan Making in Japan. A very interesting Film. Custom Officers and Smugglers. Very beautiful Scenes. The Stormy Winds do Blow. It is a very funny NOTE --- A great show and I feel confident will draw big money, altho' very expensive. Owing to the cold audience here in the afternoon, I will wait hereafter the night show before sending out my reports, wishing to give both Managers and performers a fair chance before criticizing the acts. Lindsay Morison.
