252 252. HARLEM OPERA HOUSE CRITICISM E.F. ROGERS January 28th, 1907 --ooOoo-- BELLECLAIRE BROTHERS: Equilibrists. Greatly improved. Too good for an opener. Will try to give them a better place. Applause hit of the show. 12 min. full stage ARLINGTON FOUR: Well known. Just about got by on the singing. Won out, however, on the dancing. 16 min. in one LOUISE RAFFIN'S MONKEYS" While this act does not create any great sensation, I presume it pleased. The monkeys are well trained and do some excellent work. Secured a big lot of laughs. 14 min. - full st- MUSICAL JOHNSTONS: Xylophonists. Excellent trio of musicians. Thanks to Providence that they dropped a lot of the passe numbers and gave us a very good selection. Good applause at the finish. 12 min. in one GALLAGHER & BARRETT: Presenting:-"The Battle of Yoo-Soon." Big advance applause Secured laughs. Fully capable of holding down any place on the bill. Finished to big applause. 20 min. - full stage TRIXIE FRIGANZA: Singing Comedienne. Pleasing personality. Sang three songs, recitation and a monologue. Her voice sounds worn and she does not get the applause. Appeals mostly to the feminine class. Rather disappointed. She did not come up to expectations. 22 min. in one. Personally, I never could see this man at the salary. Fully one hundred dollars overpaid. He had a very hard place. Secured some few smiles and giggles. Holds the stage entirely too long and will cut him down. 18 min. in one ELLA BRADNA & FRED DERRICK: Equestrian act. 2 men and a woman. On the style of Rose Wentworth without the stage paraphenalia. Horses are well trained and they go through some very clever bare-back riding. At the price,-one-hundred dollars less than Rose Wentworth, I think the act is just as good. 8 min-full stage KINETOGRAPH: "Trial Marriages" Very good comedy
