(2) Julian Eltings. On at 3.34, 10 min, full stage. He is a Bostonian, hence he is a tremendous hit with us. I think that he has the swellest make-up of any feminine impersonator I have ever seen. As an all-around act for the Circuit, however, I must confess that I think Lind has it on him, for Eltings does not sing and dance particularly well. He simply looks. Geo. Fuller Golden. On at 4.04, 20 min, in 1. Golden is not making the big hit I looked for in the way of applause, but still I know that people are talking about him. He made the mistake yesterday of trying to make the audience tease him for more by walking off after 10 min, and then again after 5 min. more, but this is a pretty late spot for anybody to try that, with a Boston audience. He kept at them today, and the result is that he went mmuch stronger. Bradna & Derrick. On at 4.24, 8 min, full stage. I consider this one of the prettiest and most effective acts I have ever seen, among euestrian acts, and it is certainly a hit. I hope that we may have the good fortune to have it on the Circuit next season. Kinetograph. On at 4.32, 20 min. "The Grafter", a corking good comic film. "Forbidden Sport", a very good picture, showing French poachers at work. I trimmed this a little in spots, as I did not think the part of the picture showing the killing of the birds suitable to run. "Following in Father's Footsteps", another good comic film, although I cut out the latter portion of it, for the reason that the youngster who appears in the picture is supposed to accumulate a lovely souse, and we do not care to show views of this sort to the many children who patronize this house. Comment. I consider this a rattling good show for a holiday week, for it combines draft and entertainment at a very reasonable figure, as shows go nowadays Cuts: - Trillers. Smelling of rags, throwing them away, and holding nose. Howard & Rutherford. Spitting in face. Conn & Conrad. Instructed to shoot in the leg, not in the thigh. Mitchell & Cain. Cut mention of Caruso; references to liver and lights; pie wagon; banana-peel verse; bar-tenders and dress-makers. Instructed not to pull trousers-leg above stocking. NOTE:- The Great Francelias opened Monday, but objected to his position on the bill and requested that he be allowed to close after the first show. I granted his request for the reason that I could get along without him very nicely, as I was forced to work him in the circus set with Bradna & Derrick on account of an overplus of full-stage acts. As to the merits of the act, I think it is a find at the money, although I would not for a moment compare him with Paul Conchas or Spadoni. He is great value for the smaller houses, although I think the act is a little slow to be used as a closing feature.
