37 MARCH 4, 1907. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS GREEN BROTHERS, Base-ball Burl. Jugg:-10 min. F. S. 3 shows. On at 6:23. This is a very good opener. One work straight, the other eccentric. Their work is rapid and expert. The work with the clubs, after the manner of the [Howatts?] got a good hand as it well [deserves?]. Closed well. Could start off a show well in any house. VILLIERS & LEE Sing. & Danc.:-11 min. in 1, 3 shows. On at 6:33. These two little girls are O.K. for an early section on any bill. Their singing is not quite up to the standard, but their dancing is sprightly and their acrobatic work received good hand. Got good applause thoughout and closed well. LEONARD & DRAKE, Com. & Animal imits:- 13 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:45. Man and woman, both working straight. The comedy is not very strong, but the songs introduced got the house, and their imitations of cats, dogs, chickens, etc., all pulled a strong stroke with a Missouri audience. A good early place set. JENNINGS & RENFREW, "The Boys Who Sing Their Own Songs""- 16 min. in 1, 3 shows. These men are O.K. They do not understand singing very well, buttheir songs are witty and bright and there is a laugh in every line. Liberal applause with a very good finish with a curtain call. On at 7:02. FORTUNE & DAVIS, "My Sweetheart:":-16 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 7:25 close in 3. This is a very good act. Miss Davis is very sprightly and pretty and well costumed, somewhat of the Flora Parker stamp of dainty comedienne. She sings well and dances delightfully. Tom Fortune, who appears in lieutenant uniform has a good baritone voice, which he uses to advantage. There was frequent applause. The close in 1, in which Miss Davis appears in military costume won a very good hand and one curtain call. MR. & MRS. TRUESDELL & CO.-"Two Men and a Bottle":-20 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:40 This is a bang-up sketch in every particular. It is well written and well presented and made a genuine hit. It concerns a brother who received a visit of his half sister from Boston, the latter, unbeknown to her brother, is married and separated from her husband after a week's honeymoon. The husband picks up a bottle on Manhattan Beach. It contains the brother's invitation "to spend a week with him at the latter's expense", the bottle having been thrown from a yacht by the brother while on a jolly cruise. Thus the parted man and wife meet under her brother's roof. The situation is very amusing and every advantage is taken to get the most out of it. There are moments in the comedy that are a perfect scream, and the end is a genuine unforced climax. There were three curtain calls. This is easily a nine o'clock feature. MUSICAL JOHNSTONS, Xylophonists:- 18 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:02. Three musicians, two men and a woman, all of them brilliantly costumed and playing with unusual strength and skill. Not as strong, artistically, perhaps as the Adelmanns, nevertheless each one of the selections received good applause, and the act as a whole made quite as big a hit. One encore and two curtain calls. cerned, public, press, performers and managemenet, were thoroughly well satisfied. CUTS:- GREEN BROTHERS:- Throwing baseball bat into audience and drawing it back again. Burlesque prayer. -o-
