41. Boston Show, Week of March 4, 1907. (Carl D. Lothrop.) (Monday, Mar. 4th-Night Show.) Rennier & Gourdier. On at 6.15, 7 min in 2, 4 min in 1; 11 min in all, 3 shows. Two rather pretty and lively girls, who would come pretty near making good in a number two spot in the smaller houses. They are pretty good lookers, fair singers, dance well and dress ttractively. Stereopticon. On at 6.26, 14 min in 1. Showing views this week of Counties Mayo, Antrim and Cork, Ireland; very good pictures. Bob & Bertha Hyde. On at 6.40, 10 min full stage, 4 min close in 1; 14 min in all; 3 shows. Fair comedy act; will never get out of the 3-a-day class. Ed Estus. On at 6.34, 9 min, full stage, 2 shows. It is a pity to put this man on at this place, because he would make good almost anywhere excepting in the closing spot, which would be out of the question on account of the quietness of his act. Bender & Earle. On at 7.03, 14 min. in 1. Two girls, one of them plays the violin and the other the harp, giving an imitation of Italian street minstrels. Rather a neat little musical act. Would make good in the smaller houses in an early spot. Lucia & Viate. On at 7.17, 8 min, full stage, 2 shows. A very good wire act indeed. Those girls are very shapely and make a very attractive appearance. This is another act which could go much further down this bill. Overture. 7.25, 3 min. Harry Jolson. On at 7.33, 14 min, in 1. This blackface comedian went very well here today and I think he can be safely relied on to make good in an early spot on most any bill. Emil Hoch & Co. On at 7.47, 18 min, full stage. Playing this new sketch, "Love's Young Dream". This is good value for the money, and I think it will give satisfaction. It contains a great many laughs and is well played. Wayne Remington. On at 6.03, opens in 1 for one song, then to special drop in 2 for her second song, close in 1 for the final song and pickaninnies' dancing and tumbling; 10 min in all. Albertine Melich and her trained Birds. On at 8.15, 11 min, full stage. An extremely good act of its kind, an ornament to any bill. rather an interesting picture. Cuts:- Harry Jolson. Cut "Lydia Pinkham"; "pin-in-seat-us" gag. Comment. I consider this an excellent show. We changed our opening time today from 1 o'clock to 1.30, and as Roberts does 10 min. more than we figured he would do, till after he opened last week, I have a surplus of 2-a-day stuff, although I do not think it is policy to use any 3-a-day act in this house later than 2 and 730, unless it is extra good; which means that the two best 3-a-days that I have will have to do 3 shows, while the two or three others will get away with 2 shows. This week, however, the kinetograph is the only act doing three.
