(2) Wm. Tomkins. On at 8.26, 16 min, in 1. Tomkins did very well with the audience tonight and has a very good bunch of material. His local stuff is thoroughly uptodate and made quite a hit. La Dell & Crouch. On at 8.42, 12 min full stage, 5 min close in 1; 17 min in all. One of the best eccentric comedy and dancing acts that we have had in a long while. Gave great satisfaction to this evening's audience. It will go even stronger through the week. The Aribos. On at 8.59, 8 min, full stage. A very, very good novelty acrobatic act. These men are great tumblers and do some wonderful stunts in hand-a-hand work. The finishing tricks are new and quite sensational. Rice & Cady. On at 9.07, 20 min, in 1. It seems to me that most of the German comedians now in vaudeville were born under a lucky star, for it seems to become a habit to pay them a lot more money than they are worth; as witness this act, and that of Raymond & Caverly. Now that I have relieved my mind of this load, I am in a position to state that they did fairly well in this spot, although their race-track talk is a little bit foreign to Boston Audiences. R. A. Roberts. On at 9.27, 45 min, full stage, special set. By far the greatest protean act I have ever seen. I also think it one of the greatest acts vaudeville has ever known. I think that Mr. Roberts is bound to draw a lot of money and will be stronger the second week than the first. I know that they are already talking about him, and there is lot of argument about his making the changes and playing all the characters himself. He is certainly a fine actor, possessed of much magnetism. I would like to get a return engagement for him in his other act, as early as possible. Tie considered, this is a cheap act, as big headline acts that really draw money go, nowadays. Kinetograph. On at 10.12, 13 min. "The Teddy-Bears", one of the best, if not the best, film of the season. Think they will talk about this film quite a bit. "Immigrants Landing at Castle Island", rather an interesting picture. Cuts:- Harry Jolson. Cut "Lydia Pinkham"; "Pin-in-seat-us" gag. Comment. I consider this an excellent show. We changed our opening time today from 1 o'clock to 1.30, and as Roberts does 10 min. more than we figured he would do, till after he opened last week, I have a surplus of 2-a-day stuff, although I do not think it is policy to use any 3-a-day act in this house later than 2 and 7.30, unless it is extra good; which means that the two best 3-a-days that I have will have to do 3 shows, while the two or three others will get away with 2 shows. This week, however, the kinetograph is the only act doing three.
