66. (Carl D. Lothrop.) Boston Show, Week of March 25, 1907. (Tues. Mrch 26th--Afternoon Show.) Overture. 1.30, 8 min. Keeley Bros. On at 1.8, 12 min full stage, 3 min close in 1; 15 min in all; 3 shows. The best bag-punching act that I know of. The comedy is a trifle crude. Close in 1, with burlesque boxing. This will make a good opening act anywhere. Two Kings. On at 1.53, 10 min, in ; 3 shows. Two bright young people in a stereotyped singing and dancing act. Dancing is better than the singing, as usual in such acts. Well dressed. Beaumont's Ponies. On at 2.03, 15 min, full stage. As good a pony act as anybody's. The animals are little beauties. Are particularly bright and intelligent. I consider the act so good a feature for children that it is to be held over for Easter Week. Zay Holland. On at 2.18, 11 min, in 1. Imitations, songs and violin-playing. Figuring her at $125, she is a little high, but at $75-100, she is good value, as she looks well and offends nobody. No. 2 is about as strong a spot as she can hold in the 2-a-day houses, however. Alice & Henry Taylor. On at 2.20.19 min, full stage. I consider this one of the best novelty acts in the business, one that will make thoroughly good anywhere. Miss Taylor's feats of marksmanship are interesting; Mr. Taylor's equilibristic work is much out of the ordinary, and the setting of the act is all that can be desired. Oliveira Trio. On at 2.48, 10 min, in 1. They opened yesterday in 2, with some trumpet and cornet selections, following with xylophone trios in 1. There seemed to be a slight difference in pitch between their brass instruments and our orchestra, so I dispensed with that part of the act; they are now playing the xylophones only in 1, and are making good in this spot on the bill. Hyams & McIntyre. On at 2.56, 27 min, full stage. They can do a short close in 1, but after seeing the act yesterday afternoon, it was decided that it was better for them to work full stage all through, as the close in 1 handicapped them somewhat in their finishing dances. They are among the most popular entertainers who come to this house, and are scoring very heavily. Raffayette's Dogs. On at 3.25, 11 min, full stage. It takes us only two minutes to strike Hyams & McIntyre and set this act, and we prefer the short wait to handicapping H. & McI.. I have never seen a better dog act. The tricks are simply wonderful, amost every one of them being a distinct novelty. I think tht this act would create talk in any town. The only possible objection that can be made is that the dogs look as though they might become better acquainted with soap and water without injuring their dispositions. films of the season. Chefalo & Capretta. On at 4.53, 14 min full stage, 4 min close in 1; 18 min in all, 3 shows. An excellent magic act, neatly dressed and set. Would pass for an opening number in most of the 2-show houses. Harry Botter & Co. On at 6,11, 18 min, full stage; 3 shows. Presenting a lively sketch entitled "A Matrimonial Bilzzard". A better sketch and better played than very many of the 2-show offerings. I would have no hesitation in giving them a number three spot in the smaller cities. Cuts:- Coakley & McBride. "Dog-meat" gag. "Business end of a tack" routine. Coakley instructed not to make such a generous display of lingerie. Comment: It wouldn't take many changes to make this show one of the best ever. It is cetainly pleasing our patrons, and there are several acts that are making a lot of talk.
