Columbus, Show, Week April 8th. (W. W. Prosser.) JESSE, THE MONK: A trained monkey of unusual intelligence. -- She made good by performing a number of very good tricks. -- For an act of its kind it went very well. -- Garden in three. -- 9 minutes. LESTER & MANNING: "The Little Immigrant." -- Two men: According to the reception accorded this act it is about the poorest we have had of any kind since the house opened. -- They consumed nineteen minutes and did not receive the slightest token of appreciation at the finish. -- They have a line of 'talk' that is extremely tiresome and in which there is not a point made worth mentioning. -- They may be all right but I agree with this afternoon's house that I can not see it. THE BAGGESENS: Man and woman: The former extracts quite a bit of laughter by breaking up a lot of china and the latter does some very ordinary juggling. -- Decidedly not a pretty act to the eye and one that makes but a fairly favorable impression. -- 14 minutes C. D. F. The Melani Trio: Three men who sing, play the violin, and French Horn very well. -- Not an extraordinary offering but one that pleases. SIMONS GARDNER & CO. "The New Coachman." -- Well known on the circuit. -- Made a hit but not one of extraordinary proportions. -- Fancy Interior 30 minutes. WALTER C. KELLY: "The Virginia Judge." -- An excellent monologist. -- He makes one point after another and his imitation of the Judge and the characters common to a court is about as good as could be. -- Olio in one. -- 15 minutes. MATZETTI TROUPE: An act well known on the circuit and one that made good in every way. -- Garden in four. -- 10 minutes. COMMENT: All in all this is a weak show. -- Aside from Kelly and Matzettis there is nothing of the bill that I think will have any drawing power and with the heavy opposition I have in the other houses this week, the outlook is not good. PICTURES: A Determined Creditor: Alladin: Modern Diogenese: Very good In fact superior to the greater number of acts on the bill.
