#2.- LEONA THURBER & "PICKS":- 12 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:00. Well known. Four picks, two boys and two girls, making four changes of costume, first the coon swell, Toreador, "Heinies" and plantation pickaninnies. Miss Thurber's work is lost in the rollocking fun of the picks who were certainly a hit, winning constant applause and working up to a whirlwind finish.- WM. GOULD & VALESKA SURATT:- 23 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:12. Advance hand. This act just about held its own in this spot. We expected much more of it in coherence and general interest as it is merely a mass of funny sayings and some songs. Miss Suratt makes a very pretty figure as the Gibson Girl and displays her charms in three changes of costume. The audience was only fairly well pleased with the act, showing appreciation for every thing that was done, but the sensation which they expected did not materialize. The close was good with two curtain calls. BAILEY & AUSTIN, Com. Acro:- 13 min. in F.S. close in 1. about four minutes. 2 shows. On at 9:36. Advance hand. Well known act. Introduced new stuff and went stronger than ever before. In fact, they were a solid laugh the whole time they were on the stage. Could hold any spot on the bill with credit. LES SELVAGGIES, Parisian Dancers:- [10?] min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:48. This is one of the prettiest little dancing acts we have had for some time, but with a Missouri audience such as we had to-day, after the immense show we have them last week, it did not seem to work the audience up very strong until the latter part of the act. They are beautifully costumed and their dances are thoroughly artistic. Good stiff hand at the close and a curtain call. Saved by transposition on the bill. WALTER C. KELLY, "The Virginia Judge":- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:58. Advance hand. Same "Virginia Judge" act as before, only with some brilliant character variations and additions. Simply a knockout. The audience actually stopped him once or twice with uproarous laughter. Finished immense. Kelly is certainly a big favorite here. He could stay a month and not wear out his welcome. FOUR LONDONS, Casting act:- [10?] min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:15. These people are certainly the goods in their line. They match the Duffin-Redcay troupe for thrilling and daring feats on the same sort of a pedestal and bounding net. Each one of their feats got a big hand. Makes an A.1. closing act. Big finish, two curtain calls. KINETOGRAPH:- JAMESTOWN EXPOSITION AND NAVAL SCENES:- Very interesting and novel series. BOB SLEIGH RUNNING:- An Alpine series of really thrilling interest. SPOT AT THE TELEPHONE:- Rather amusing dog retriever. COURTNEY & DUNN:- Three-a-day act which was sent over to fill in time. the various features stood out better and the show ran much smoother. Business continues to be big in spite of the opposition, both in another house across the way, and Forepaugh & Sells Circus. CUTS AND OBJECTIONS:- WM. GOULD & VALESKA SURATT:- I'm staying at the St. James, where all the big bugs stay.--" "We have just as big bugs where I am staying."-
