(2) Rankin & Davenport. On at 8.42, 16 min, full stage. Presenting their new sketch, "The Goddess", something on the "Pygmalion and Galatea" order. It is bright and lively, full of good situations. The only objection I find to it, is that it is overpaid. At two fifty or three hundred, I would recommend it to anybody, but four hundred is rather steep. Genaro & Bailey. On at 8.58, 12 min, in 1. Doing their singing and dancing act. I do not care particularly for their songs, but their dancing is great and their old familiar cake-walk finish goes as well as ever, which means that they take three or four bows, and that the audience would be pleased to see more of them. Franco Piper. On at 9.10, 11 min, full stage, 3 min close in 1; 14 min in all. Scored heavily with his novelty banjo act. A thorough artist, and makes a great impression on an audience. Willy Pantzer Troupe. On at 9.24, 14 min, full stage. In many respects the greatest acrobatic act that has ever played this house. It is full of novelties and the little fellow Pantzer has with him is simply a marvel. This act will be the talk of any town it plays and nobody need be afraid of playing it on account of its price, for it will draw its money many times over. Ben Welch. On at 9.38, 20 min, in 1. I venture to state that there is no better entertainer in 1 today than Ben Welch. I certainly do not know of one who is more welcome here. I only wish that I had him for two weeks, and I would say the same about the Pantzer Troupe, but for the fact that I have the Metzettis coming next week. Arnoldo's Leopards. On at 9.58, 14 min, full stage. Although this is not as lively an act as I would like, with which to close the show, still it is a corking good novelty animal turn. It makes an effective stage picture. The leopards are well trained and work without Arnoldo's having to resort to the use of a whip. Well worth the money we are paying, two fifty. Kinetograph. On at 10.12, 20 min. "A Runaway Motor-car", a very good comic film. "With a Travelling Menagerie", held over a second week; one of the best pictures of the season. "Transformation", a fine trick film, colored. Cuts:- Rankin & Davenport. "Damn" in two places. Comment. A very good show, indeed. The Pantzer Troupe, Ben Welch, Franco Piper, Work and Ower, Rankin and Davenport, the Vivians, Genaro and Bailey and Willa Holt Wakefield may all be classed as hits.
