F. H. Brandt Cleveland, Ohio. July 22, '07. GARDNER & REVERE Singing and Dancing specialists. Man and woman. Opened full stage, doing a little rapid fire conversation which falls very flat. He does some baton swinging also plays the guitar very good and gives an imitation of a zither on the guitar which went very well. Ten Min. Full Stage. Closes in One five Min. with burlesque imitations and eccentric dances, which received hearty applause. Good opening act, although it looked very doubtful at the start. JULES GARRISON & HENEN CONKLIN In burlesque ad travesty presenting and Ancient Roman." by Edmond Day. I am very sorry to say that this is positively the worst thing of its kind we have had in Cleveland and if it were not for the four supers which he hired in Cleveland, I do not believe they would have received one laugh. Miss Conklin is very amaturish and considering all the good things that Mr. Day has written, I am surprised that he would connect his name with a sketch like this one. 18 Min. palace DIXON AND ANGER German Comedienns act well known on circuit and as they are doing the same act they did when last seen here with no new material it went rather flat. 13 Min. in One. INTERMISSION. THE GREAT SEARS The European Illusionist. While Mr. Sears has nothing which is absolutely new he works very fast and seemed to please this afternoon's audience very much as all his tricks received hearty applause. His work is a good deal like Golden's. and probably the best thing he did was the Thumb Trick, which one of the TenIchi Troupe did. He carries four assistants, three women and one man. A very good act of its kind. Full stage. 20 min. LILLIAN SHAW Vocal and dialect Comedienne. Act well known and assure you it went just as big as ever. Especially her dago song and her song giving an imitation of Katie Barry singing Have You Seen My Henry Brown?" Close very strong, 18 Min. in One. WILLIAM COURTLEIGH AND CO. in Peaches. The plot of this little piece has been thorough described in the Philadelphia criticism, and if ever a name fitted a sketch as this one does, I have never seen it. This is without a doubt one of the best written and played sketches we have ever had in Cleveland, and no one can make a mistake in playing this act as it will please everybody. I do not know of any sketch or legitimate actor that we have played in this theatre that received the real hearty applause at the close of his act. Received five curtain calls. Interior. 30 Min. CLIFFORD & BURKE. Act well known and considering that they are doing nothing new with the exception of one song, they went very good this afternoon. 18 Min. in One BELLECLARIE & KRAMER Poseurs, Athletes and Champion Strong Men. This one of the best strong-men acts in the business. They are two of the most perfectly developed men that I have seen, and considering that our show was running late and that it is only about eighty-five in the shade here today, they held the audience until close of their act. A very good act of its kind and should make good anywhere. 9 Min. Full stage. Carry special curtain for their posing. [EMARK?].
