CRITICISM KEITH & PROCTOR'S 125TH STREET THEATRE AUGUST 12, 1907. GREAT SCOTT (Dancing Ladder) Well known. Played the circuit before. His work remains about the same. A little bit of novelty. Received some recognition for his work with good applause on the finish. 10 minutes full stage. MADGE FOX (Sings and talks) Pleasing personality. Makes three distinct changes in costume. Tells a few ancient stories fairly good. Voice none of the best but manages to secure some applause. The only merit of the act is the acrobatic dancing on the finish which helps greatly and saves her. 13 minutes in one. JAMES BROCKMAN & CO. 2/m 2/w. Presenting "Money won't make everybody happy". The same old act as presented with Stanley but not as good. Brockman portray two characters and with good songs manages to secure some applause. The man is an excellent dancer and helps to spruce the act up. The women look neat, fair voices, and good dancers. The comedy is not much. In it's entirety it pleased and all right for an early place. 17 minutes full stage. Can close in one. KINGSLEY & LEWIS Compelled to take this act for the evening performance on account of an error in the criticism. It is very essential for all managers to secure the correct time of every act as it is generally a saving in the show. The sketch is the same as when presented before. The jury thought it funny and treated them kindly. Secured quite a number of good laughs throughout although they closed rather tame. They, however, filled the bill under the circumstances. 19 minutes full stage. "LONDON FIRE BRIGADE" Full description given in previous criticism. As I expected they have greatly improved. More action, plenty of laughs, and much shorter in time. One continuous laugh from start to finish big applause and three curtain calls. Laughing hit of the show. 20 minutes full stage.
