29. CLEVELAND, OHIO. MAR. 23 '08. N. S. HASTINGS. THE PICQUAYS Man and Woman. Palace in 4. Time 8. Neat, clean work, Hand, head balancing. Man does a clog dance on hands, a big hit. SPENCER KELLY and FREDERICK ROSE. In 1. Time 12. They sing good iingly melodies. One of the best singind duos we have played. Big applause. MR and MRS ATHRUR FORBES. Delayed. SLATER and WILLIAMS. Coons. In 1. Time 13. singing good and dancing great. They received the best applause given to a coon act here for months, and we have had all the best lately. JESSE LASKY'S "A NIGHT ON A HOUSEBOAT." F.S. Special, showing houseboat. Time 21. A singing spectacle. 6 women. 4 men. An extremely pretentious setting for several good songs, well presented, and some very English comedy. The act is finished and gives the impression of a well ordered musical comedy. The searchlight song, in which a searchlight is used with good effect, proved the big hit of the act. PAUL LA CROIX. In 1. Time 15. Opens with rubber ball juggling. Great. Then he turns to silk hats and his work is both skillful and accompanied with a lot of great comedy. Several of his stunts are entirely new, and he can be credited with being one of the big hits of the bill. IRENE FRANKLIN Assisted by Burt Green. Time 24. C.D.F. in 2. Mr. Green plays the piano, eliminating the orchestra while Miss Franklin sings several stunt songs with rapid changes. She does them well and gets a big hand. Green plays a "high brow" piano solo, well received. HAL DAVIS & CO. Open in 4 C.D.F., Close F.S. time 16. 3 men. 1 woman. There is a little love story of two sweethearts who decide to elope. The scene quickly shifts and we see the lovers speeding along in a real auto with the irate father coming up in the rear. The panoramic effects are great and the final scene proved a great thriller. THE KINETOGRAPH.
