(2) Clara Blandick, Marianna Thurber and Richard Sterling. On at 3.49, 18 min, full stage. Playing "The Band Box", a comedietta by Miss Marie B. Schrader, of the "New-York Times". The sketch is a bright, frothy little affair, while the players are all three clever, and play their respective characters most acceptably. It is what might be called "A classy offering". As this was practically its first performance I think it is sure to develop considerably between now and Saturday night. At $350 it is perhaps overpaid, but at $250-300 it would be good value in any house where a thoroughly high-class comedy sketch is wanted. XX on its first performance, think it will be worth XX1 by Saturday. Ralph C. Herz. On at 4.07, 20 min, in 1. Would that I could have this man in the regular season, for he would certainly be town-talk. One of the cleverest artists that I have ever seen in 1. He will always be welcome here. XX1 Four Riegos. On at 4.27, 12 min, full stage. A really excellent equilibristic act. Some of their work is much out of the ordinary. They finish with a four-high trick that is a corker. XX1 Kinetograph. On at 4.39, 23 min. "A Family of Cats"; one of the prettiest, most attractive pictures we have had in some time. "Curious Mr. Curio"; a very good comic. Evans, Emita and Evans. On at 5.02, 18 min, full stage; special set; can close in 1, if necessary; 3 shows. A particularly good 3-show act, one that could hold number three with credit in many cities. XX The Berkes. On at 5.20, 12 min, in 1; 3 shows. Man and boy in a singing and dancing turn. The boy is a clever little chap. Excellent value as a 3-a-day and could hold number two creditably in many of the small towns. XX James R. Waters. On at 5.32. Waters apparently thought that he was in a burlesque house, from the parodies he sang. His first two were passable. On his third one, I started for the stage, and at the finish of his fourth I called him off and informed him that he had better get out of town on the first train. YZ& Cuts: James R. Waters. Bodily. Comment. An excellent summer show. The comedy of the Hayes and Johnson act will help it considerably in the early part.
