GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, PA., Oct. 12th, 08. DUFF & WALSH-Olio-3 shows. 10 minutes. Singing and dancing act. A very ordinary act and just about gets by. NELSON & OTTO-Character singing and piano playing. 20 min. Olio in one. Two young ladies who dress very well-a very fair singer and an exceptionally fine piano player. This act is going very well and I think would go big on any bill as late as nine o'clock. PHILLIPI BROS- Acrobats, 9 minutes, wood. A very good act-much above the average. MARSHAL P. WILDER-15 minutes, special. Monologue. Mr. Wilder always does well for us and aside from making good, really helps the box office some. HARRY L. TIGHE & HIS COLLEGIANS in his new skit entitled "Books". 32 minutes. One of the best laughing sketches we have played and much better than anything Mr. Tighe has ever given us. I am sure he would be a big hit on any bill. EDITH HELENA- 11 minutes, olio. American soprano. A big hit at every performance. This is her fourth engagement with us and she is doing better this week than ever before. MERIAN'S DOGS-13 minutes, special. This act is going better than any dog act we have ever played. It is a big production and Mr. Merian deserves great credit for same. HILL & WHITAKER-14 minutes, olio. This act is too well known to need any extended criticism. The same big hit they have always been with us. PAULINE-Hypnotist. 23 minutes, full stage, carrying 4 or 5 subjects. This act was a big hit as a laughing number but it is about the fakiest thing I have ever looked at. It is one of the things that is liable to fall down and I understand it has in other houses but it certainly made good with us and helped our business. However, owing to the fact that there is as much talk about fake, I am sure I would not play him a return. John P. Harris.
