KEITH'S HIPPODROME NED S. HASTINGS. Jan. 4, 1909. ------------- ABD'EL KADER AND HIS 3 WIVES. (Also boy about 14) Time 14. In 3. Abd'el is a lightling rough artist who paints a big landscape during the above time on an easle in center. His two wives do interesting, but "fake" painting at each side of the stage. Interesting, considerable applause. WYNN & LEWIS. In 1. Time 13. Two men. Songs and stories. The new man seeks to improve the act. Showed a tendency toward vulgarity at times. Go well. LAMBERTI. In 3. Two assistants. Time 21. Costume and make-up impersonations of great musicians. His changes are quick and effective. In the various characters he plays the piano/'cello and violin, -all excellently. Decided hit. HERR GRAIS.'s BABOONS. F.S. Considerable apparatus. Time 12. This is a very remarkable animal act and it went with a big hurray Monday afternoon. Most of the tricks are new, and the old ones are cleverly done. One baboon that does the "loop theloop" like Carlotts, makes a big hit. First class act. THE PIANOPHIENDS. 5 men, 4 girls. F.S. This well known act appears to be smoother than ever. The people are clever and the songs and dances good. The finale of 18 hands playing of 5 pianos scored heavily. Several new and effective duets and solos. Time, 19. FOUR FORDS. In 2, 2 1/2, 3. Time 15. This well known brother and sister dancing act is thought the best in the business here. Their individual and ensemble work brought generous applause throughout the entire act. They sing a little while dancing. VALERIE BERGERE. & CO. Miss Bergere and 3 men in "The Prairie Flower". F.S. rough western interior. Thisis a Belascoesque thriller, which gets over the footlights well. Gun play, Spanish lovemaking, American lovemaking, rapid shots and the ever fascinating Bergers. Miss Bergere is a great favorite here, and received applause at every situation Monday afternoon. THE LONG ACRE QUARTETTE. In 1. Time 17. An excellent male quartette. Sing well and do not test their lung capacity on the audience. Made one of the greatest hits ever scored locally by a quartette. THE ELLIS-NOWLIN TROUPE. "A Night At A Circus." 16 men, 1 woman. Time 18. Open in 2 with burlesque grand parade. Change to F.S. panoramic interior of circus tent. Practically every feature of the circus is burlesqued and it is all done excellently. The straight part of the act is in some gingery tumbling, acrobatics and contortionistic work by 5 men and Miss Nowlin. They comedy of the act while nonsensical, is original and highly effective. The audience screamed throughout the entire performance. 9
