CLEVELAND, O. Hippodrome. NED S. HASTINGS. DEC. 28, 1908. --------------------- MORTON-JEWELL TROUPE. F.S. Woods. 4 men, 1 little girl. Time 10. Special props, big mache indian clubs from which first entrance is made. Baton swining, club throwing and juggling. Well dressed. Fast. Frequent applause. LITTLE HIP In 3. Time 11. This act has changed little if any. It makes a big hit with women and childred here, and is a good balyhoo in the program passing stunt in the lobby. A NIGHT ON A HOUSEBOAT. Time 25. 5 girls, 4 men. Special house boat set F.S., with own backdrop. A very good singing act, attractively set, with fair comedy. The act makes good with ease, and the singing is better than on the last trip. JAMES and SADIE LEONARD and RICHARD ANDERSON. Interior in 4. Time 21. A laughable Roman travesty. The lines are bright, and the situations funny. Probably the laughing hit of the show. GILLETTE'S DOGS and MONKEYS. Time 12. Special miniature scenery showing street town seen. Complete playlet by dogs and monkeys without the appearance of human being on stage. This well known act is making its customary big hit here. "IN THE SUNNY SOUTH" 5 men, 5 women (colored) F.S. Time 17. Lively singing and dancing, characteristic negro, featuring Johnson and Wells. A big act of their kind, full of ginger, moving smoothly. WALTER C. KELLY. In olio. Time 16. Kelly is doing his court room monologue here. He has many of the old characters with a few new ones. Going big. Much applause and recalls. JEFFERSON de ANGELIS & CO. de Angelis, 2 men, 1 woman. C.D.F. Interior. A little eccentric dancing by the 2 men, good. De Angelis and woman repeat the "Rehearsal" burlesque material taken from the 2nd act of "The Great White Way." This material is good, but fails to score in vaudeville as heavily as it did in the musical comedy. de Angelis himself is very funny. The act is far from running smoothly A week or two more will undoubtedly improve it to first class shape. MIRZA GOLEM TROUPE. 7 men, 1 woman. F.S. Time 11. Persian acrobats. This is a great acrobatic, risley and balancing act. It fills the big Hipsstage well with an attractive picture of color and activity. The costumes are odd and demand attention. The pole climbing and balancing is very good. The act rivets the attention, and is without doubt a novelty. One of the best "closers" we have had all season. 10
