-2- Chip and Marble. On at 3.31, 25 minutes full stage, special set. One of the daintiest, cleverest and most satisfactory turns that it has been our pleasure to play in many a day. Created an immense amount of favorable comment. A cleaner cut and more artistic (for the word certainly applies) offering than this is hard to find in vaudeville. We for it any time next season. Clarice Mayne. On at 3.56, 21 minutes full stage. Although suffering from a severe cold, Miss Mayne duplicated the great success she made here earlier in the season. Boston certainly likes her. Of course there are many better mimics and also better comediennes, but she has a certain way with her that wins, while Mr. Tate at the piano is certainly a wonderfully clever foil for her with his comedy bits, and he is also a really remarkable accompanist. Asahi Troupe. On at 4.17, open in one 3 minutes, 17 minutes full stage, 20 minutes in all. It was necessary to have this act open in one and they obliged us by commencing with their Risley work, followed in full stage by some magic and concluding with the water trick. Opening in one undoubtedly broke up their routine and hampered them somewhat, but nevertheless the act went remarkably well. It is so long since the water trick has been done here that it seemed like a novelty and interested the audience greatly Kinetograph. On at 4.37. "The Inauguration of President Taft."--Highly interesting. "The Dream of the Jolly Three"--A fairly good comic that had to be edited considerably. "Wonderful Eggs"--An extremely good colored picture. The Hallaways. On at 5.03, 10 minutes full stage. Two boys, one of them dressed as a girl, who only need some swell wardrobe and more elaborate apparatus to make an act that will be talked about, for some of their stunts upon ladders are really remarkable. A corking act for the parks and fairs as well as the smaller houses. Piantadosi and Dunham. On at 5.15, 12 minutes in one. Another one of the piano player and singer acts that seems to be epidemic just now. Both boys have good voices and one of them is a remarkably clever singer of character songs. They could hold the No. 2 spot almost anywhere and I think will be heard from later. Cuts--Nance O'Neil & Co.--Use of the word "damned" Chip and Marble--Use of the word "Hell" Comment--A rattling good bill, one that this afternoon's audience seemed highly delighted with, judging from the remarks heard at the close of the show. A striking fact in connection with it is that all but two of the acts are absolutely new to this house, when material presented is taken into consideration, while the Onlaw Trio have not been here for two years and Miss Mayne's engagement is a return that might have the term "by request" truthfully used in connection with it.
