REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF APRIL 12, 1909. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill is the best that we have had in some time. Every act scored. The business opened well, but not as big as I had hoped for in view of the fact that it is Easter Week, school holidays and the big booming we have given Alice Lloyd. Yammomoto Brothers On at 2.03 and 7.37 Wire and perch act. A very excellent offering some of their work bordering on the sensational. At the salary it is a find. 12 Min. F. S. Can close in One. Alexander & Scott 2.15 and 8.00 Act described from Boston last week and the same report will go for this house. 13 Min. in One. Chas. B. Lawlor & Daughters 2.51 and 8.22 This is a splendid turn and scored big with today's audience. It is made up of various character songs in costumes and while the voices are not particularly good they harmonize nicely, the girls are attractive and they know how to get the most out of their material. It will be a safe act to route for next season. 22 Min. Open in Three and close in One. Entire act could be done in One. Trovollo 3.15 and 8.45 Presenting his ventriloquist act the scene of which is laid in an hotel office. Went very well with today!s audience. 23 Min. Open with special set F. S. Can close in One if required. Alice Lloyd 3.38 and 9.08 Well-known English artiste who seemingly did as well here today as she has in other cities. 25 Min. in One. Edna Phillips & Co. 4.03 and 9.33 I do not care an awful lot for Miss Phillips' sketch- "Lost - A Kiss in Central Park". It's principal value will lie in the fact that Miss Phillips was formerly a leading woman of our stock company. It isn't a bad act, but under ordinary circumstances would not be worth the money to this house. 16 Min. F. S. Matthews & Ashley 4.29 and 9.50 In "Held Up". This is by far the best act that these men have ever given us and held this difficult spot creditably. 21 Min. Special Drop in One. Bellclaire Bros. 4.41 and 10.12 To my mind the best hand balancing act in the business. Received with enthusiastic applause, scoring a decided hit - something very rare in this position in this house. 10 Min. opening with their own plush drop in One, closing F. S. Could close in Two. Motion Pictures O.K.
