C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 28-09. MULLER, CHUNN & MULLER. 13 min. F.S. This act makes a very good opener. The three men and woman make a good appearance and their hoops and disks are showy. Some of their tricks are quite new. The young lady sings a song prettily. Closed very well. ROONEY SISTERS. 12 min. in one. Two pretty girls who wing fairly well, but, of course, their dancing is their principal attraction. A good act for a good spot. FOUR RIANOS. 14 min. F.S. Well known on the Circuit. Same act as presented here before. The antics of the "monkeys" got considerable applause, and the close was fairly strong. CHARLES LEONARD FLETCHER. 24 min. in one. Advance applause. Gave impersonations of Mark Twain, Uriah Heep, Richard Mansfield and an old army veteran. Each received good applause. Finished strong. AUGUSTA GLOSE. 15 min. in 1 1/2. A very charming entertainer who has improved since her last appearance here. Various imitations. Songs got very good applause. Miss Glose is a favorite here and should draw some money to the house. RICHARD GOLDEN & CO. "A Case of Divorce." 25 min. F.S. Second presentation of this sketch here. It is very artistic, Golden in a character of the "Old Lawyer" is strong and convincing. Listened to with rapt attention, and closed strong. MCKAY & CANTWELL. "On the Gay White Way." 18 min. in one. Carry their own drop, representing exterior of a cafe. First appearance here. Sketch is rather incoherent, starting off with some typical street chaff between a policeman, a pickpocket and a nursemaid. The songs are not particularly well delivered, being spoken rather than sung. The finish of the act between the gentleman "Souse" and the messenger boy is amusing and with their eccentric dancing brings the act up to a fairly good close. FOUR LONDONS. 8 min. F.S. This is a very skilful and showmanlike casting act. Makes an excellent closer. Some of their feats are new, and all of them brilliant and daring. Well applauded right up to the finish. KINETOGRAPH. "Benares." A very good travel film of India. "Hungary Hanks's Hallucination." Good comedy film with the added merit of being short. GENERAL REMARKS. With the thermometer hovering in the nineties, would like to have had a little more of a comedy bill. However, standing between Vesta Tilley, of last week and the Fadettes, of next, I think it will win out as well with the summer crowd as a much heavier bill. Glose is a good name for us here, and her work is better than ever. McKay & Cantwell just barely held a hard spot, but we have no alternative than to leave them where they are and run the show in the order named.
