Boston Show. Week of Aug. 23rd, 1909. (Monday, Aug. 23rd-- Evening Show.) R. G. Larsen. The Fadettes 55 minutes full stage. On at 7.30. Beginning of 5th week with a programme as heavy as any they have yet given, the Fadettes got as much applause as ever, and were just as strong. Max York's Dogs. On at 8.20 Open in three, four minutes in one fourteen minutes in all. This is a first class animal act, and did well for us, but would not advise anybody to ask them to close in one. It hurts the act, as it necessitates a wait shifting stands and tables. Hallen and Fuller, On at 8.41, full stage. In "A Lesson at 11 P M" This is a rather ordinary sketch and depends almost entirely on Hallen, who makes the most of it and gets a good many laughs. The names, however are the only excuse for paying the amount of money they ask. 24 minutes. Harry DeCoe, On at 9.09. Ten minutes, full stage (Worked in Hallen and Fuller set) DeCoe on his second week, got a hand on appearing, and in this earlier spot went even better than he did last week. Tom Dempsey, On at 9.19, 14 Min. in one. This was on rather late in the evening, and Dempsey with his line of material was at a disadvanage, but he got away with it in fair shape. I had him cut out his serious recitation at the finish, which will shorten the act and give it a stronger finish for this occasion. Adelaide Hermann. On at 9.33, full stage, special set, full stage 25 minutes. Mdm. Hermann is doing about the same line of stuff, and none of it makes a better impression than her palming She held the attention in good shape at both performances today. Raymond and Caverley. On at 9.58, 24 minutes in one. even at this, late hour, they were a riot as usual. Kitabanzai Troupe. On at 10.34. Twelve minutes full stage. A good strong finish. Cuts. Hallen and Fuller, reference to money in woman's stocking Dempsey. several hells and damns. Raymond and Caverley, in suffragstalk. "Woman's middle". Comment. A rather heavy show, lacking in comedy, and with a little to much time, owing to holding DeCoe over. Had all the acts cut wherever possible, and this evening had it moving in good shape and please a crowded house. To fill in a four minute wait after the Fadettes, put in local picture of Canoeing on the Charles, working it up with river calls, phonograph, etc, and it made one of the hits of the bill.
